It’s Ken Burns Day on PBS America, as the titan of US documentary is celebrated. The pick is this funny, fascinating film about Dr Horatio Nelson Jackson (voiced by Tom Hanks) and his eccentric, pioneering 1903 car journey across America. A compilation episode of the glorified gambling gameshow, now hosted by Stephen Mulhern but still imbued with hints of Noel Edmonds’ woo-woo antics. Self-confessed risk-taker Leon has overcome serious health challenges to make it to the show, but plays it surprisingly safe when it comes to his turn in the hot seat. Hannah J Davies

A taxing day at an overcrowded casualty unit at Barnsley hospital, where 71-year-old Enid is struggling to breathe, Wayne has been shot in the foot, volunteer Jane’s mother arrives after a fall, and three-year-old Rory has something unusual stuck up his nose: “I’ve seen garden peas. I’ve seen little bits of Lego. But I’ve never seen a conker.” Ali Catterall

When Chris Hemming rings in to confess to police that he has stabbed his partner, Cheryl McKenna, to death, DCI Gareth Lougher has to establish if the murder was premeditated or if it was manslaughter. It might be the last in the series but Katie Price’s carousel of chaos just keeps spinning – she was engaged to Lee Andrews weeks after filming this. Before him, though, were husbands Alex (“walking weapon/perfect rebound”), Reid and Kieran Hayler. Her children Junior and Princess speak out about the turbulence of the last few years. HR

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (David Frankel, 2026), Disney+

Miranda Priestly is back – and the last 20 years haven’t diminished the fashion magazine editor’s hauteur one iota. But, in David Frankel’s couture-drenched comic sequel, her former callow assistant, Anne Hathaway’s Andy, is now an award-winning investigative journalist. Hired by the owner to improve Runway’s reputation, she can take all that Meryl Streep’s disdainful Priestly throws at her. This time round, the main conflict is with the internet, as declining print sales and clickbait competition threaten the publication’s future. It’s a jolly, aspirational outing, buoyed by scene-stealers Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, even if the gags are largely from the preloved rack. Simon Wardell

Primate (Johannes Roberts, 2025), Paramount+
A brutally efficient horror from Johannes Roberts that employs all your favourite slasher movie tropes – remote location, invincible foe, gut-wrenching dismemberings, final girl – but makes the serial killer a chimp. Ben was the test subject of a linguistics professor who has recently died, and can communicate using sign language. He now lives with her widower Adam (Troy Kotsur) and teenage daughters, Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah) and Erin (Gia Hunter). But a mongoose bite turns the cute ape into a rabid menace and the family’s Hawaiian clifftop home into a deathtrap. SW
