  • Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated his 79th birthday on Thursday, July 30
  • To celebrate, the actor-politician posted shots of himself lifting weights, entreating followers to sign up for his Pump Club app rather than give him gifts
  • “I’ve been trying to get people to train for six decades, and I finally found something that works,” Schwarzenegger wrote

Arnold Schwarzenegger is celebrating his 79th birthday as only he can.

Although, as the actor-politician points out in his Thursday, July 30, Instagram post, anyone can make fitness a central part of their life.

“I turn 79 today,” Schwarzenegger captioned two shots of him in sunglasses doing a lat pulldown and biceps curl at what appears to be Gold’s Gym in Los Angeles’ Venice neighborhood. “I don’t want any gifts. Instead, my team and I are turning the fitness industry upside down.”

Until Aug. 9, he continued, first-time users of the Pump Club fitness app can try it free for seven days and then pay $100 for the first year. Completing four programs, however, gets users their $100 back, he wrote.

“No fine print. Show up, do the work, and your first year is free. Link in bio. Go,” wrote the Terminator star. The Pump Club “crusade” is backed by him, he added, rather than “a private equity fund or a hedge fund.”

Schwarzenegger’s post concluded with a nod to his decades of bodybuilding and funding fitness programs: “I’ve been trying to get people to train for six decades, and I finally found something that works. If I can make millions of you train all year, I’ll take the loss.”

The actor has made combining birthday celebrations with workouts an annual tradition. Last year, upon turning 78, he shared an Instagram video of himself getting cardio in on a bicycle.

Schwarzenegger shares daughters Katherine, 36, and Christina, 35, and sons Patrick, 32, and Christopher, 28, with ex-wife Maria Shriver, whom he divorced in 2011 after 25 years of marriage. The former California governor also shares youngest son Joseph Baena, 28, with former housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena.
