Western Australian rock outfit Unicorn continue to build momentum with the release of their new single ‘Sweet Ride’, a driving, emotionally charged track that reinforces the band’s reputation for pairing muscular guitar work with deeply personal songwriting.

Following the success of 2025 singles ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ and ‘Spirals’, ‘Sweet Ride’ finds the Fremantle four-piece pushing their sound further, balancing sharp-edged riffs with moments of cathartic release. At its core, however, the song is less about confrontation than conviction.
For vocalist and songwriter Jenna Hardie, ‘Sweet Ride’ serves as a reminder to keep moving forward despite doubt, criticism or setbacks.
“I often write messages to myself when I write lyrics to songs, almost like journal entries,” Hardie explains. “‘Sweet Ride’ is about determination and perseverance. Working towards what you want. Having the belief in yourself that you can do it and refusing to take on board the noise and negativity of others.”
That sense of resilience runs throughout the track. Rather than dwelling on frustration, ‘Sweet Ride’ transforms self-belief into something anthemic, capturing the moments when persistence outweighs uncertainty. It’s another example of Unicorn’s ability to fuse urgency with melody without sacrificing either.
The release caps another strong year for the band. In 2026, Unicorn received two WAM Song of the Year nominations, with ‘Spirals’ recognised in the Rock category and ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ earning a nomination in Blues/Roots, further highlighting the breadth of the band’s songwriting.
Since forming in 2021, Unicorn have become one of Western Australia’s most distinctive emerging rock acts. Their live reputation has continued to grow through support slots with Jebediah, Clouds and Def FX, alongside appearances at the RTRFM Winter Music Festival and Spliffs n Riffs. International radio support across Japan, the UK, Canada, Brazil and Mexico has also steadily expanded the band’s audience beyond Australia.
To celebrate the release, Unicorn will launch ‘Sweet Ride’ at The Buffalo Club in Fremantle on 22 August, before taking the new material to Bunbury and Albany later in the month.
