Derbyshire rock four-piece Shadows of a Silhouette are back with their first release of 2026, unleashing ‘A.I.A.D’, a soaring riff-heavy new single that takes infleunce from 70s and 80s rock while staring squarely into an increasingly automated future.
Loaded with driving power chords and soaring lead guitars, punching drums and anthemic vocal melodies, ‘A.I.A.D’ sees exploring one of the defining anxieties of the modern age: artificial intelligence and the potential dangers that could lurk in its wake.
At the heart of the track is a deliberately dystopian vision. The title A.I.A.D stands for Artificial Intelligence, Automated Deception, capturing the band’s concerns about where the development of AI, and humanity’s relationship with it, could ultimately lead. Through a sound which could be likened to Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and if you were looking for a more contemporary comparison, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the track is a raw, energetic example of the bands classic rock credentials, mixed in with the bands natural indie tendencies.
Vocalist Nathan explains the thinking behind the track:
“The song sets out to create dystopian novel levels of imagery around what we fear are possible future outcomes of our current relationship with each other in the world and with AI itself. The title of the track stands for Artificial Intelligence, Automated Deception”
For lead guitarist Reece, the song represents an attempt to channel the spirit of classic heavy rock through a distinctly contemporary lens:
“This is the type of song I’d like to think that bands like Black Sabbath would be making if they were our age today and living through the birth of AI”
