Gary Owen is opening up about infidelity in his previous marriage. 

The comedian, 52, revealed why he cheated on his ex-wife, Kenya Duke, but won’t cheat on his current wife in an interview with Vlad TV, published on Saturday, Aug. 22. 

He told the interviewer that he expects “to be 100% faithful” to his wife, Brianna Johnson. 

“The biggest difference between this marriage and my last marriage is that we weren’t intimate at all. We had sex three times in the last six years of our marriage,” Owen said. 

“Even before that, we weren’t in sync in the bedroom. I’ll put it like that. It’s not like that with my current wife. I enjoy being intimate with her. I look forward to coming home. I’ve already told her, I said, ‘Look, just know the day I get home, just be ready.’ That’s how you keep a man,” he said.

Owen continued, “You’re a roommate if you’re not sleeping with your spouse.”

He clarified that his comments are not to be taken as a “knock on my ex-wife.” 

The Daddy Day Care actor said, “The feeling was mutual. We just weren’t into each other. If we were, we would have been sleeping together.”

Owen gave insight into his current life with Johnson, saying they “discuss” their intimacy. 

“If she’s not in the mood, you can’t just go, ‘No, I’m not in the mood.’ You have to be like, ‘Look, I’m tired. I’m worn out. I got you in the morning. I got you tomorrow. I promise.’ That’s different. As a man, you’re like, ‘Cool, I can wait. I can wait till tomorrow,’ ” he said. 

“Women need to know, you can’t just say no and not give us when it is gonna happen,” the comedian said, adding that it makes men feel “guilty.”

PEOPLE reached out to Owen and Duke on Sunday, Aug. 23, but did not receive an immediate response.

Owen and Duke got married in 2003 and divorced in 2021. The pair share son Austin and daughter Kennedy.

Duke is also a mother to son Emilio from a previous relationship.

The comedian married Johnson earlier this year. They welcomed twin sons Royal and Rome in July 2023.

Last month, Austin shared a photo on Instagram of himself posing with Duke and Owen during a celebration. 

“Got my parents back together for the first time in 6 years. God is good,” he captioned the post.

In 2024, Owen said he had not seen his older kids in more than three years.

“It’s a nightmare. It’s like, they’re my greatest accomplishments and my greatest failure at the same time,” he shared on the Club Shay Shay podcast. “But to see how it’s just crashed and burned since a divorce — and this is all since a divorce.”

Duke responded to his comments in an Instagram post, writing, “@garyowencomedy it has been 3 years. I am always kind and cool with you. I purposely, never make it awkward. I never bother you. I have given you my suggestions on the situation but you don’t respect their boundaries. Which is why you discussed this again on social media.”

“I don’t know what else to do to help you,” she added.
