Court documents obtained by the outlets state that police were called to the Mill Creek Apartments in Milpitas, Calif., located in Silicon Valley, for a report of a hit-and-run shortly after 12 p.m. local time.

Witnesses told investigators that a blue SUV fled the scene, and officers found Baby with the vehicle — which had sustained “heavy” front-end damage — parked in front of a Walgreens about a mile from the apartment complex.
Police attempted to speak with Baby, but the court documents state that she “appeared incoherent,” was unable to answer questions and had blood on her arms and legs, per ABC7 and CBS News.
Officials also said there was evidence that three other vehicles had been damaged at the scene.
Friends and family of Baby and Hari later told investigators that the two women were friends who lived in the same apartment complex, per the court documents.

The Mercury News reported that witnesses told police that before she was hit, Hari appeared “relaxed and smiling” as she approached the SUV in the parking lot.
Baby is accused of accelerating from a stop while Hari was standing in front of the vehicle. She allegedly struck and ran her over before crashing into several parked vehicles and leaving the area, the newspaper reported.
The court documents detail a report from a traffic officer who reviewed the scene. The officer reported finding no tire marks, which would indicate an attempt to brake before impact, per ABC7.
Investigators wrote in the documents that they believe Baby intentionally struck the victim with her vehicle, and a criminal complaint includes aggravating allegations that the killing involved great violence, use of a weapon and planning, per SFGATE.
The Indian Express reported that Hari moved to the U.S. in 2021. She is survived by her husband, Vijesh, and their 6-year-old daughter.
Friends of Hari have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support her husband following her death.
Baby is next set to appear in court on Sept. 10, according to records viewed by PEOPLE.
