After spending more than two years in prison in Russia, Gaga Daily owner Kirill is finally catching up on the era he missed — and he has a lot of thoughts

For more than a decade, Lady Gaga fans knew where to turn for their daily dose of Mother Monster: Gaga Daily.

But while the fan account continued posting through one of the biggest eras of the 40-year-old singer’s career, its longtime owner, Kirill, was nowhere to be found — and now he’s revealing why.

“Sorry about the lack of updates, I was literally in prison 😭,” the account owner revealed in a Sept. 22 X post.

Kirill, who is from Russia, shared the surprising explanation with Gaga Daily followers, sharing that he was arrested in his home country in early 2024 after protesting against the government and was sentenced to more than two years in prison.

“If you don’t know me, I’m the owner of Gaga Daily, and every social media post you saw from 2009 through 2024 was from me,” he wrote.

During his absence, some friends took over the account, keeping Gaga Daily going through the “Killah” singer’s latest era.

“Throughout the MAYHEM era, this account has been run by my friends Christian and Anthony, who have done such an incredible job,” he said.

And the two had a lot to cover. 

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, released MAYHEM, her seventh studio album, on March 7, 2025. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while Gaga quickly took the new music on the road.

After releasing MAYHEM, Gaga launched The MAYHEM Ball, beginning the tour in Las Vegas in July 2025 before taking the show across North America, Europe and the U.K. The tour was later expanded with another North American leg in 2026, bringing the MAYHEM era to even more cities.

Gaga also performed major shows during the era, including headline sets at Coachella and a massive free concert on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach in May 2025.

But Kirill was behind bars for all of it. 

Now that he’s out, he’s getting to experience MAYHEM for the first time — more than a year after the album’s release. And he’s taking Gaga’s Little Monsters along for the ride.

“The day this came out must’ve been the greatest day to be a Gaga fan,” he wrote three hours after his original post. “Holy s— what a moment.”

He followed that up with another X reaction after diving further into the era: “WOW… no words. Will need time to process this. Will be back in 3–5 business days.”

Then came his reaction to Gaga’s “Disease“ music video. “What do you mean this wasn’t #1 for 10 weeks?” he wrote. 

And when he got to her Grammys performance, he kept it short and sweet: “GAG OMG.”

Gaga Daily has remained a fixture in the fandom for years. Gaga herself has previously acknowledged the importance of the account to her fan community.

“When I go to see what my fans are saying, I go on Gaga Daily,” the “Abracadabra” singer told Rolling Stone in 2009. “They see the cover and say, ‘I don’t really like the blonde one, but the brown one is f—ing sick.’ They love it, and I know what they love, so I make it for them, I don’t care what anybody else wants.”

Now, the person behind the account is back to see what everyone has been talking about.

“I’m out now, I’m safe, and I can’t wait to get back to doing something I love so much,” Kirill wrote.

He also thanked the fans who sent messages of support while he was away, reflecting on the unusual bond that has formed among strangers who share a love for the same pop star.

“I’m incredibly touched and grateful for all the tweets and messages of support you guys have sent my way,” he said. “I love this community so much, and it feels surreal that so many people who don’t know each other, whose only connection is something as silly as loving the same pop star, can form such a strong bond that lasts for so many years.”

And after spending more than two years away from the Gaga universe, Kirill is already looking ahead.

“LG8 when?” he wrapped up the post.
