Kate Middleton has revealed the household chore she and Prince William love to do together.

The Princess of Wales, 44, stepped out on Wednesday, Sept. 30, to visit West Sussex Minibus, a volunteer-led community transport organization in Pulborough, England, that helps people stay connected and combat social isolation.

Princess Kate helped pick up an unfazed 94-year-old Stella Drewett, surprising her outside of her home, before they joined others on the bus.

After joining the elderly guests at their weekly lunch club, Kate then said in the Pulborough Village Hall, “I love washing up [doing the dishes]. I really do,” per U.K. newspaper The Times, as a guest joked, “Oh good, a volunteer!”

The mother of three then said when asked whether William offers a helping hand, “He does the drying. We are a good double act. And we get the children involved,” according to the outlet. Kate and William share Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, together.

Princess Kate made the comments after sitting alongside Lynda Jones, 75, Hello! reported.

The lunch club brings local residents together for activities, conversation and companionship. There, the royal met attendees and volunteers and learned how the club helps tackle loneliness by creating opportunities for social connection.

Princess Kate shared that she wanted to visit the weekly lunch club, “because I want to see what it’s all about,” per The Times.

Hello! noted that the late Queen Elizabeth would also help with the dishes after mealtimes.

Power and the Palace author Valentine Low previously told Hello!’s A Right Royal Podcast that the Queen would help out with the chore at Balmoral.

Low said, “The source of this was Alex Allen, who was the [U.K.] Prime Minister’s private secretary under John Major,” per the outlet.

“The prime minister goes there every year for a weekend in September, the private secretary goes with him, and there’s often a barbecue. In the old days, Prince Philip and Andrew would cook the sausages on the barbecue and all that sort of stuff,” the royal author added.

Low continued, “And famously afterwards, the Queen would do the washing up [dishes] and, you know, people would leap up to help and they’d be told that she enjoys doing it. So Alex Allen leapt up to help and was just told ‘No no no, the Queen enjoys doing it,’ ” per Hello!.

On Wednesday, Princess Kate got a firsthand look at the West Sussex Minibus service — which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year — by hopping aboard one of the organization’s 11 minibuses and joining volunteers as they picked up passengers from their homes.

The royal donned a long gray coat and pussybow blouse for the outing.

Stella Drewett, 94, said of her meeting with the princess, “When they said, ‘It will be a celebrity,’ I said, ‘I don’t know any celebrities,’ “ according to the Mirror.

Princess Kate helped Drewett, a new user of the transportation service who uses the bus for a weekly shopping trip and the lunch club on Wednesdays, make her way from her home down the path and aboard the bus.

As the pair chatted, Drewett joked that the weekly lunch outing to Pulborough village hall meant “one day of not cooking,” per the Mirror.
