New details are emerging about the Los Angeles student who died after falling from a four-story building at Benjamin Franklin High School on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Although police have not identified the deceased, students and relatives identified him as 17-year-old Xavier, according to NBC 4 Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times, and ABC 7.
While no details have been released about his death, videos circulating online show a fight between two students and then another student proceeding to run away and jump from a fourth-floor outdoor corridor as the other approached, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE that a death investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further details were made available as of Friday, Oct. 2.

A vigil was held for the high school senior on Thursday, Oct. 1, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A fellow senior, Reighdan Rivera-Carrera, who had known Xavier since the second grade, told the Times that Xavier was “so funny” and “loved to laugh at everybody’s jokes.”
“We would sit in class, and he would sit across from me, and I would talk to my desk partner, and I would look up, and he’d be laughing at the stuff I would say,” Rivera-Carrera said. “And he was like a good friend. Like if you needed him to be there for you, he was going to be there for you. And he just always had a smile.”
Xavier’s family, who did not want to be identified, said he was bullied and expressed concerns over how he was treated in the days leading up to his death, ABC7 reported.

“She told me he was a really nice kid. Very quiet,” Eleo Rolon, a parent whose daughter knew Xavier, told NBC 4.
“Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and this family is now facing the emotional weight of grief while also trying to make arrangements to honor his life,” a GoFundMe created for Xavier’s funeral services read.
