The ‘Caught Stealing’ star first became a father in 2007 with the birth of his son

Liev Schreiber was in for a special surprise on his birthday.

On Sunday, Oct. 4, the Caught Stealing star’s wife Taylor Neisen shared snaps on her Instagram Stories of Schreiber’s son Sasha, 19, wearing a custom shirt for the actor’s 59th birthday. The shirts featured a special collage of the Ray Donovan actor’s face.

In one snap, the doting dad and his 19-year-old son posed together with smiles on their faces as they celebrated his special day.

The teenager also shared a special tribute to his dad on his own Instagram Stories.

“Happy birthday Dad!” he wrote over a throwback photo of his dad holding him when he was a baby, which was set to Cat Stevens’ “Father and Son.” 

“My role model and best friend!” he wrote over the second snap of him, his dad and sister Kai, 18, that was set to Everclear’s “Father of Mine.”

He then added, “I love you!”

The Perfect Couple actor shares his two older children with his ex-girlfriend Naomi Watts, whom he dated from 2005 to 2016. In August 2023, Schreiber welcomed his third child, and first with his wife Taylor, a daughter named Hazel.

Back in June, Schreiber attended Sasha’s high school graduation, sharing snaps to his personal Instagram. In one photo, Watts could be seen wearing a multicolor maxi dress and straw hat, posing next to Sasha and her husband, Billy Crudup.

On Sasha’s other side, Schreiber stood next to his son with a film camera around his neck, posing alongside his wife. Sasha stood in the middle, wearing a gray suit and tan shoes.

“The graduate!!!” Schreiber wrote in his caption. Watts also included a similar photo on her Instagram Stories, adding a sticker that read, “Congrats!”

In March 2025, PEOPLE caught up with Schreiber at the Cirque Du Soleil New York City premiere of Luzia, where he was joined by his son. When asked how it felt to be walking the carpet with his eldest, Schreiber admitted it’s an adjustment.

“It’s strange,” the X-Men star told PEOPLE. “I felt a little self-conscious walking into the circus with him because, like, it’s the kind of thing you do with your kid.”

Schreiber added, “He doesn’t feel like my kid anymore. He feels like a man now, so, it’s a whole different thing for us.”
