It’s taken fifteen years, but Tokyo’s Survive Said The Prophet are finally heading to Australia. The Japanese post-hardcore outfit will make their Australian debut next February, bringing their genre-bending sound to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for three intimate headline shows.

Known to Japanese fans as Sabapuro, the band have spent more than a decade mixing post-hardcore, alternative rock, electronic music and hip-hop into something that refuses to sit comfortably in any one genre. Frontman Yosh’s bilingual vocals move between melodic hooks and full-throttle intensity, while the band’s live reputation has taken them well beyond Japan.

For many international fans, the introduction came through ‘Mukanjyo’, the opening theme for acclaimed anime series Vinland Saga. But Survive Said The Prophet have built a career that extends far beyond anime soundtracks, touring extensively across North America, Europe and the UK, with appearances at Download Festival, Rock am Ring and Rock for People.

Their 2025 album Luv Sux Sessions pushed their sound further, featuring collaborations with Matt Good of From First To Last on ‘State Of Mind’ and Knosis vocalist Ryo Kinoshita on ‘Useless’. This year has brought more new material, including ‘Speak of the Devil’ featuring Masato and ‘Hollow’ with MAN WITH A MISSION’s Jean-Ken Johnny.

Now Australia finally gets its turn, and the band aren’t easing in with festival appearances. Instead, they’re heading straight into three relatively small rooms, including Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, where the distance between band and audience will be minimal

For a group whose reputation has been built on big choruses, heavy guitars and crowd participation, these first Australian shows should be a particularly interesting introduction.
