Journey drummer Deen Castronovo suffered a medical emergency on Thursday, Oct. 8 while the band was playing in Tulsa, Okla.

The incident occurred while Castronovo, 62, and Journey performed the second song, according to an X video posted by Tulsa World sports reporter Eric Bailey.

“We’re going to see what happens as this progresses,” bandmate Jonathan Cain explained. “It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you.”

Guitarist Neal Schon then appeared on stage and said Castronovo was being transported to the hospital. Schon, 72, confirmed that the concert would continue with Castronovo’s drum tech in his place, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

“Please give a big hand for (longtime Journey drum tech) Steve Toomey. We’ll be back in about 15 minutes. We love you all, we’re really sorry about the inconvenience,” Schon said.

After the brief pause, Arnel Pineda asked the crowd for prayers before saying, “He’s gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade,” per the outlet.

Schon echoed the sentiment later on in the show, “This concert’s for Deen tonight. I’d love you all to pray for him. Everybody’s been going through a lot. I think he’s going to be fine.”
