Jessica Biel is sharing a peek at how she prepped for her role in Matchbox: The Movie.

On Monday, Oct. 12, the 44-year-old actress posted an Instagram video highlighting her intense workouts with trainer Ben Bruno to prepare for the action-adventure film—after a nine-year hiatus from film roles.

“Behind the scenes of how I got ready for Matchbox. Full body, no shortcuts… plus a healthy amount of gym distractions 🤣,” the 7th Heaven alum captioned her video.

Biel’s post began with a clip of her showing off her toned back in a backless emerald gown she wore on set.

The video also shows Bruno explaining each exercise over short clips of Biel demonstrating the moves.

He revealed that she “tweaked her back” getting ready for the movie, so they worked together to find “creative ways to challenge” Biel without “reaggravating” her back injury.

He then acknowledged that Biel’s children sometimes interrupt her workouts with tackles. The actress shares her 11-year-old son, Silas, and 6-year-old son, Phineas, with husband Justin Timberlake. One clip featured Biel counting with Phineas as she held a lunge, just before he ran into her arms and tackled her to the floor.

In another clip, Bruno joked that there’s “always this other dude in the gym with Jess, helping to give her encouragement and correct her form,” he said as clips of Timberlake played. “I don’t think he’s a trainer, but he definitely knows his way around the gym and has been super helpful.”

In the Apple TV, Skydance Media and Mattel Studios action-packed adventure, Biel and costars John Cena, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, and Teyonah Parris—a.k.a. the “Matchbox Gang”—work to save the world.

The film “is an action-packed, globetrotting adventure about a group of friends since childhood who have their lives upended when undercover CIA agent Sean (Cena), their long-absent former leader, returns to their small town and unwittingly gets them embroiled in a frantic international pursuit to save the world,” reads an official synopsis.

The actress previously spoke with PEOPLE about taking on the physical challenge as a mom. “I have an 11-year-old and a 6-year-old now, and I kind of feel like myself again after 11 years, which sounds crazy,” she said.

“I really felt like I could trust myself to have the physical capabilities to do something like this again,” she continued. “And it was, it just was perfect timing and felt like an opportunity that also my kids would be proud of.”

But the mom of two revealed at the Matchbox world premiere that Silas wasn’t a fan of one element of the movie. “My son, Silas, was very concerned about the green dress [I wore in the movie]. He was like, ‘What are you wearing, Mom? Yuck,’ ” she told PEOPLE at the film’s New York City premiere on Oct. 5.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is intense for them to be seeing this dress,’ ” she continued, adding that the dress reveal also gave her some momentary mom anxiety.
