An Arizona teenager is speaking out after going viral for a random act of kindness that was caught on camera.
Jordan Hope, 18, recently leaped into action after spotting a man walking in a Walgreens parking lot in Maricopa with some worn-out shoes on, according to AZFamily.
That’s when the teen, who was on the way to his bank, stopped and took off his own shoes to give to the man in need.
“I just felt like God told me to go over there, turn around and just give him some new slides,” Hope explained, per the outlet.
The generous act was spotted on Monday, Oct. 5, by Yareli Madrid, who shared photos and a video of the good deed on The Original City of Maricopa, AZ Facebook page.
In the social media post, Madrid said the kind gesture “truly touched my heart” and hoped Hope’s kindness will “inspire others.”
“What makes it even more special is that he did it without anyone watching, without cameras, without expecting recognition or praise. He simply saw someone in need and helped from the goodness of his heart,” Madrid wrote. “What a wonderful young man.”
It turns out that the man whom Hope, a recent high school graduate, had helped apparently lost his wife just two weeks before, according to AZFamily.
“That honestly broke my heart,” Hope said. “I just think he needed a friend.”
Initially, Hope drove away from the scene but turned back and found the man inside the Walgreens trying to buy some candy, per the report.
He said he bought the candy himself and then ordered the man a ride to a nearby Culver’s, where they met up for lunch.
Afterward, Hope said he followed the man back home and then stayed to talk with him so he didn’t feel alone, according to AZFamily.
“I’m just a man trying to spread positivity in the Lord’s work,” the teen said, per AZFamily.
