When Christian, 30, spoke to reporters after the win, the running back was asked about the emotional aspect of sharing the field with his 25-year-old brother, who is a wide receiver. “It’s a blessing,” he said.

Christian added, “As competitive as we are, there’s a lot of emotions watching your brother, especially when you’re playing against him. I think in 10, 15 years we’ll look back and really appreciate how cool it is to share the field with him.”

Luke, 25, was drafted by the Commanders in 2024. In addition to Christian, he has two other older brothers, Max and Dylan. Their father, Ed McCaffrey, is a three-time Super Bowl champion.

Their mother, Lisa, is also an athlete. She played women’s soccer at Stanford for three seasons and also excelled at tennis and track.

The Niners are undefeated after six weeks for the first time since 2019. Christian told reporters he doesn’t like to “compare years” for the team, but said, “One thing I love about this team is it really is just one day, one week at a time.”

The running back said he and his teammates “try to block out all the noise” and “just focus on getting better.”

The 49ers (6-0) visit the Atlanta Falcons (2-4) on Sunday, Oct. 25.
