Celeb-Worn Merit Beauty Finds

  • Laura Dern and Lindsay Lohan Wore It: Merit Beauty Flush Balm, $30
  • Used on Isa Briones: Great Skin Serum, $42
  • Reese Witherspoon-Worn (and PEOPLE-Editor Loved!): The Minimalist, $38
  • In Jenna Dewan’s Beauty Bag: Day Glow, $32

Every so often, a buzzy product or beauty brand crosses my desk that looks so good I need to try it immediately. Most recently, that happened with Merit Beauty, which Jenna Dewan uses for her effortlessly glowy Dancing with the Stars makeup.

I quickly learned Dewan isn’t the only star who wears its products, especially the Flush Balm blush. Lindsay Lohan’s makeup artist used it on her for a recent Vogue Arabia cover shoot, and Laura Dern wore it on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival over the summer. Katie Holmes, Margot Robbie, and Reese Witherspoon have worn the blush, too, which only solidified my need to try it. Fortunately, Merit sent me the roll-on product in a new color to test, and it immediately earned its spot in my makeup routine.

Blush is my favorite makeup product, and I have an ever-growing collection of 15 different shades to prove it. While I typically gravitate toward mauve, Postmodern, a new deep pink-brown shade, has unexpectedly become my go-to. Its buildable formula makes it easy to achieve everything from a subtle “I just walked in from the cold” flush to a bold, red-carpet-worthy look — all with one product.

I’ll admit I have blush blindness and tend to overapply. Before trying Merit Beauty, I relied on the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush for years. While I love its pigment, one extra dab gave me a clownish level of color that was nearly impossible to tone down without makeup remover. By contrast, my new roll-on option is far more forgiving. A few days ago, I was overzealous with my application, but I could easily blend it out with a makeup brush (and remove a little extra with a tissue) without starting from scratch.

What really stands out to me are the skincare ingredients in the Flush Balm. With vitamin E, it hydrates, soothes, and plumps my complexion while giving me a sun-kissed glow. It also contains octyldodecanol, an emollient the brand credits with its smooth, easy-to-apply formula. Even better, it also works as a lip stain or an eyeshadow.

Shoppers also praised the creamy blush. One person said it “glides on easily” and is the “best glass-like blush out there.” Meanwhile, a 65-year-old fan said they love how it “does not settle into any wrinkles or creases” and noted they bought a second color because they like it so much. Others praised the long-lasting color, which mirrored my experience.
