Kate Miller-Heidke is taking her extraordinary voice on the road in 2027, announcing the biggest tour of her career, with a sprawling run of shows that stretches well beyond Australia’s capital cities.
The Sirens and the Stars Tour celebrates two significant milestones: the release of her new album The Kiss and the Abyss and the 20th anniversary of her platinum-selling debut, Little Eve. And with dates running from March through August, Miller-Heidke is making sure regional Australia gets a substantial slice of the action.
Kicking off in Brisbane on 19 March, the tour winds through Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia before wrapping up in Albury on 21 August. An Adelaide date is also on the way.
Few Australian artists can move between opera, indie pop, folk and musical theatre with Miller-Heidke’s ease. One minute she’s delivering a vocal performance that could stop traffic, the next she’s cutting through the absurdities of modern life with a wicked sense of humour.
Her latest album, The Kiss and the Abyss, takes that unpredictability into darker territory. Drawing on gothic folk and the songwriting traditions of Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and Leonard Cohen, the record tackles everything from conspiracy theories and social media influencers to fractured friendships, technological anxiety and the looming apocalypse.
There’s plenty of bite beneath the beauty. Holiday takes aim at the gulf between our carefully curated online lives and reality, while A Certain Panic explores the psychological cost of living behind an invented digital persona. Butterflies, meanwhile, finds Miller-Heidke confronting the painful end of a friendship.
But the tour isn’t solely about new material. With Little Eve turning 20 in 2027, Miller-Heidke is digging deep into her back catalogue, promising rarely performed songs from the album that launched her recording career, alongside favourites from the two decades that followed.
Longtime collaborator Keir Nuttall joins her on guitar, with additional special guests appearing throughout the tour. Expect the full range of Miller-Heidke’s musical personality, from stripped-back storytelling and razor-sharp comedy to the operatic vocal fireworks that have become her calling card.
It’s been quite a journey for the Queensland Conservatorium graduate. Five ARIA Awards, a memorable appearance representing Australia at Eurovision, performances at some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses and co-writing Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical with Nuttall have made Miller-Heidke one of the country’s most versatile performers.
And now she’s taking that remarkable catalogue to audiences across Australia, including plenty of towns that major national tours routinely overlook.
All performances are all-ages, with families welcome.
Fan presale tickets become available on Wednesday 11 November, ahead of the general public sale on Thursday 12 November.
