Timothy Olyphant’s wife isn’t loving his transformation for the sci-fi series Alien Earth.
On the Thursday, July 30, episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actor, 58, revealed the solution his wife, Alexis Knief, came up with to cover his bleached eyebrows.
“My wife’s not a huge fan of it,” Olyphant said of his bleached hair and brows. “The reason I discovered the brow gel is because every time I got dressed to go out with her and I invariably do that thing that I’ve never stopped doing for 35 years, which is like, ‘Honey, how’s this look?’ And then she would just look at me and go, ‘It’s just the eyebrows.’”
The actor said it didn’t occur to him to use brow gel during season 1 of the show, but for season 2, he began wearing brow gel off-camera at his wife’s suggestion.
“This year I was like, ‘Oh wait, brow gel.’ I think actually she said, ‘You know, you could put makeup on,’” he recalled.

Olyphant and Knief met in college at the University of Southern California and married in 1991. They share three children together: Grace, Henry and Vivian.
Olyphant appears as Kirsh in FX’s Alien: Earth, which is adapted from the 1979 sci-fi film Alien.
The series stars Sydney Chandler as Wendy, a groundbreaking humanoid robot infused with human consciousness, who leads a team of soldiers in the aftermath of a mysterious spacecraft crash-landing on Earth.

In a September 2025 interview with GQ, Olyphant joked that he’d need a refresher on the unique eccentricities he brought to his character if they filmed any more episodes.
“You can give AI any sort of personality,” he told the outlet in September 2025. “The fun of the job was seeing how far I could push what I don’t associate as robotic or synthetic behavior into the performance and people would still feel like, no, that just must be the guy.”
The actor added, “And even now thinking about going back to film [a season 2], I’m not exactly sure what I did. But it felt good when we were doing it.”
