August’s astrology will be one for the books!

With two eclipses and a parade of planets changing signs, the cosmos is bringing more than enough intrigue to keep the drama alive and breathing.

However, it begins on a charming note as Venus will slip into its domicile Libra on Aug. 6, putting relationships, aesthetics and social dynamics in a flattering light.

We’re collectively more willing to negotiate and compromise at this time, making our personal and professional exchanges feel like a breath of fresh air. 

That same day, the sun will meet with Saturn in Aries, encouraging us to establish a sense of discipline and structure when it comes to our passion projects and heart’s desires.

This is followed by Mercury’s debut in Leo on Aug. 9, making our communication warmer, louder and theatrical, which is fun until pride and arrogance enter the chat. (Be nice!)

Then, on Aug. 10 and 11, love planet Venus will meet with Pluto, Neptune and Uranus, while Mercury makes a tricky opposition to Pluto. 

To say this is a complicated energy would be an understatement, as it could be just as attractive and intoxicating as it is shocking and revelatory when it comes to matters of love, friendship and finances.

Go-getter Mars will slip into Cancer on Aug. 11, too, shifting the collective energy toward family, security and emotional territory. 

The red planet doesn’t care to journey through this Water sign — given its introspective and emotional nature — but that doesn’t mean it can’t be harnessed correctly. 

In fact, this is where our motivations become personal and perhaps even slightly irritating, especially if repressed emotions or sensitivities rise to the surface. 

Then comes the month’s biggest event, which is the total solar eclipse in Leo, kicking off a brand-new chapter around visibility, confidence, courage and self-expression. 

This lunar eclipse will occur at exactly 20 degrees of Leo, followed by a lunar eclipse in Pisces on Aug. 28, setting the stage for a big purge and emotional release.

Keep in mind that Mercury will be making supportive connections with Uranus, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn between Aug. 12 and 17, and this can spark an exciting idea, introduction or heart-to-heart conversation.

A Mercury-Jupiter conjunction on Aug. 15 is also particularly expansive, encouraging confidence, bigger-picture thinking and above all, authenticity. However, there is such a thing as being overly enthusiastic, so check yourself if need be.

Around Aug. 17, Mars will clash with Neptune, which can put a damper on our collective emotions. Mixed signals, vague expectations or something as simple as literal exhaustion could complicate situations. 

However, once the sun enters Virgo on Aug. 22 and Mercury follows on Aug. 25, we go from spectacle (Leo) to scrutiny (Virgo). 

Details matter, timelines become top of mind and a workable system becomes non-negotiable.

A resourceful Mercury cazimi in Virgo on Aug. 27 can help bring a long-overdue breakthrough in your day-to-day life, whether it be work-related or in terms of health and wellness. 

Just a day later, Mercury and the sun will square Uranus as a partial lunar eclipse arrives in Pisces, disrupting plans while bringing something significant to a complete stop.

This ending (or full-circle moment) may look different from what we originally envisioned, but it’s important to make peace with the fact that something has officially served its purpose.

All in all, this month asks you to be honest with yourself: what are you passionate about and what are you doing to make it a part of your life?

Taurus (April 19-May 20)

Home and family matters are top of mind this month, and may require a major decision, Taurus. The solar eclipse in Leo, for instance, could coincide with a move, renovation project, family announcement or personal decision, while Mercury opposite Pluto could expose a power struggle between your personal needs and expectations in your professional life, or from your higher-ups. Fortunately, Venus in Libra helps ease the situation at work and with your day-to-day logistics, but the lunar eclipse in Pisces could shed light on a friendship or group commitment that’s run its course. Just know that the foundation you seek may require disappointing people around you who don’t share similar hopes and dreams.

Gemini (May 20-June 20)

Change of plans, Gemini? Never say never, because a significant exchange could bring a change of plans. Mercury entering Leo, for instance, will turn up the heat in your immediate environment, whether that’s texting your crush or doing something creative. The messenger planet will also meet with Jupiter and Uranus in your sign, bringing opportunities for work and conversations that could change everything.
