The band celebrated their 15th sellout show at Boston’s iconic Fenway Park on Sunday, Aug. 2, by gifting more than 37,000 fans with a cruise aboard Margaritaville at Sea liner. The gift, valued at more than $40 million, breaks the record for the largest surprise audience gifting in live entertainment history, according to a press release.
Lead singer Zac Brown announced the big surprise onstage before performing the group’s aptly titled 2021 song “Same Boat,” per the release.
“Tonight we’re going to do something that even Jimmy [Buffet] would say is crazy,” said Brown, 48. “I’m buying every single person here a cruise for two people on the boat. This is the biggest giveaway in history ladies and gentlemen, right here tonight at Fenway Park!”

Zac Brown Band kicked off its 27-date Love & Fear U.S. Tour in July. The tour concludes on Nov. 21 in Rosemont, Illinois.
For every show, the band is giving away four cruises aboard the cruise liner’s new ship Beachcomber, which makes its debut in January 2027.
The ship is also home to ‘Same Boat,’ a “first-of-its-kind artist-curated live music venue at sea co-designed by Zac Brown,” per the release. “Named in tribute to Brown’s 2021 collaboration with the late Jimmy Buffett, the venue will serve as the ship’s central live entertainment hub, blending Southern hospitality, premium acoustics, craft cocktails and high-energy performances in a space personally curated by Brown to capture the feel of a front-row concert experience.”
In late July, founding band member John Driskell Hopkins opened up about how he’s dealing with his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis while on tour with the band.
Hopkins, 55, said in an interview with Fox News, “I’m almost busier now than I was before because I’m trying to get so much done. I’m tryin’ to fit it all in … I’m still on tour with Zac Brown Band right now. You know, my fingers work. My voice works. It’s been compromised, but most of the set, no one would notice. And I’m playing different things on stage, but they still make sense.”
