Watch out beauty industry, here comes Ice Spice!
The rapper, 26, famously known for her hit songs “Boy’s a liar” with PinkPantheress and “Karma” with Taylor Swift, has been hard at work on a special project for her fans, but it’s not a new song—it’s a scent. In Ha Mood, a fragrance made in collaboration with Revlon, has officially hit the shelves, taking the name of Ice Spice’s hit single released back in Jan. 2023.
PEOPLE chatted exclusively with Ice Spice ahead of the launch to get the scoop on why perfume was her first venture into the beauty world, what inspired the song and the scent, and how the perfume-making process went down.
“It’s something that I naturally felt compelled to do, I can’t lie,” says Ice Spice on creating a fragrance. “It was the first opportunity that I got to get into beauty in general, and I’m just so excited.”

After deciding to create a fragrance, Ice Spice knew right away she wanted Revlon to be her partner on the project. “I do love working with household names,” she says. “And Revlon is such an iconic name for me in general. Growing up, I always saw it, so having the opportunity to work with them is like ‘Um, of course I’m interested!’”
The process of getting the perfect scent took a while, but Ice Spice was there from start to finish, and “enjoyed every step, for real.” She came into the first meeting with a few non-negotiable notes, and worked with the Revlon team to land on the final combination. “Vanilla is something that I just can’t let go of,” she explains. “I’ve loved it since I was a baby. I think that’s just because my mom always had vanilla scents in the house growing up.”
“So that was the base that I wanted to start with, and we needed to of course compliment it with other things, so we got some floral notes in there that smell very pretty and feminine, too.”
In addition to the scent, Ice Spice wanted the packaging to be feminine as well, so she landed on a pink-tinted bottle with an emerald-cut cap, topped off with a dainty butterfly bow. “I feel very feminine a lot of the time, most of the time, probably like 99% of the time,” she explains with a laugh. “And I also have a butterfly tattoo, which is probably my favorite piece, so that went with the bow.
The girly vibes of In Ha Mood the scent align perfectly with the vibes of “In Ha Mood” the song—hence the matching names. Ice Spice wants “everybody to feel fun and confident” while wearing the perfume, the same way she felt when recording the “In Ha Mood” music video, and the same way she continues to feel when listening to the song today.

“I love ‘In Ha Mood’ personally,” she says. “My favorite songs of my own are always changing, but ‘In Ma Hood’ has always been in rotation for me.”
“I just feel so confident when I hear it. And when I wear In Ha Mood the scent, I feel confident as well, so I feel like they’re just the perfect pair.”
Ice Spice didn’t ask for advice from anyone in the industry when crafting her scent, but she did run several versions by her parents, sisters, cousins and friends. “I even asked some boys,” she shares. “Because I wanted to know what they thought too—what they would want to smell.”
She also recalls a funny piece of feedback she got from one of her female security guards before the fragrance’s official launch: “It’s funny because this is the last person that I would’ve thought would say something,” says Ice Spice.

“They’re like never talking to you, like ever, but one of them was a lady, and she was like ‘You smell so good. What are you wearing?’ And I was shocked as hell. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, thank you. It’s actually my perfume.”
At the time, Ice Spice couldn’t direct the security guard where to go to buy the perfume because it hadn’t launched, but she wants to say now: “If you’re listening, it’s out!”

Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, Ice Spice is very excited for a new music video she has coming out, and to continue promoting her first-ever scent. “I know my fans are starving,” she admits.
But before anything new comes out music-wise, she wants the girls to “come together and just celebrate” in her new perfume.
