NEED TO KNOW
- Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison revealed their favorite guest stars, including Michael J. Fox and Brendan Fraser
- Brendan Fraser’s performance in the Emmy-nominated episode “My Screw Up” was praised as “preposterously ambitious” by John C. McGinley
- Season 2 of Scrubs will be released on Sept. 30, continuing the show’s legacy of memorable guest stars
While many guest stars have graced the halls of Sacred Heart Hospital on Scrubs, few left particularly impactful impressions on the cast.
Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison recently sat down with Disney+ to discuss which celebrities would be on their “Mount Rushmore” of guest stars.
Chalke, 49, went first, selecting Michael J. Fox, who appeared in two episodes during season 3 in 2004.
“I grew up watching him. I couldn’t believe his physical comedy, his comedy, all of it,” Chalke reflected.

Faison picked Tara Reid, noting that she was “one of our funniest guest stars on the show.”
“I think her character Danni is one of the funniest characters, and the way that everybody kind of reacted to Tara Reid’s character and how they all wanted to get with her, and I think that was some funny stuff,” Faison, 52, explained to Braff, who was a bit surprised she made the top four.
Reid appeared in 11 episodes, from 2003 to 2005, as Danni Sullivan, the sister of Christa Miller’s character, Jordan.
Braff, for his part, then selected Brendan Fraser. “A phenomenal actor. Never thought he was going to do Scrubs,” the 51-year-old admitted. “His performance, particularly with he and John C. McGinley, was really magical.”
Chalke finished the list by adding John Ritter, who played Dr. Dorian’s dad on the show in a few episodes aired in 2002.

“He was so funny and he was so good, and he made us all laugh like someone who comes to set and is just open and funny and feels like we’re so lucky to have him, and yet he’s giving us good vibes that he’s grateful to be there,” she said of the actor.
“All of them came and just like brought it,” she added.
Like his fellow castmates, McGinley also believes Fraser’s turn on Scrubs was one of the best.
In an interview with Den of Geek, the actor, 66, picked season 3’s episode, “My Screw Up,” as his favorite, but called it “preposterously ambitious.” The episode features Fraser as Dr. Cox’s brother-in-law, Ben.
“The Brendan Fraser episode where he dies and Cox doesn’t know he’s dead, then the funeral that was a very ambitious half-hour of television,” McGinley shared. “Billy [Lawrence] earned the permission to do that episode after doing a hundred or so. That was a preposterously ambitious tone shift.”
The episode was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.
Season 2 of Scrubs, which was rebooted earlier this year, will be released on Sept. 30.
