The Gentlemen is officially coming back for a third season, but will Meghan Markle be joining?
When news emerged last week that Meghan, 45, was in talks to join a third season of The Gentlemen, that season had yet to be announced. Now, season 3 is official, and PEOPLE understands Meghan remains in talks despite recent reports to the contrary, though no deal has been finalized. The Guy Ritchie-created Netflix series, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, has been renewed ahead of its season 2 premiere on Sept. 3, with Variety reporting on Aug. 24 that the new season is already in pre-production and scripts are still being finalized.
PEOPLE learned on Friday, Aug. 21, that Meghan is being eyed for a part in The Gentlemen, with Deadline reporting that talks are in “very early stages,” while The Hollywood Reporter reported that the role “is currently being written, so it’s unclear how many episodes she would appear in.”

PEOPLE previously learned the Duchess of Sussex had been offered a major new project, with the offer helping shape the timing of her and Prince Harry’s move back to Britain with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
Meghan was living in Toronto and filming Suits when she met Prince Harry in 2016, stepping away from the show before their 2018 wedding.
Despite telling Variety in a 2022 interview that she was “done” with acting, Meghan filmed a cameo as herself in Close Personal Friends, an upcoming movie starring Lily Collins and Jack Quaid. She was first spotted on set in Pasadena, Calif., in November 2025, where a source told PEOPLE she appeared “very relaxed and happy.”
“She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth,” the source said at the time.

Meghan also has a history with Netflix. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a deal with Netflix in 2020. Five years later, they announced that they are extending their creative partnership with Netflix through a multi-year, first-look deal for film and television projects.
The couple’s 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan became one of Netflix’s most-watched documentary debuts, and the pair also produced Live to Lead (2022), Heart of Invictus (2023) and Polo (2024). Meghan also starred in two seasons plus a holiday episode of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
Meghan and Prince Harry are set to return to the U.K. this month, with their children attending school there starting next month. The family relocated to Meghan’s home state of California in 2020 after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal roles.
