A young woman had her head shaved after she allegedly didn’t pay a bar bill.

On Friday, Aug. 28, the 18-year-old woman filed a police complaint alleging that a Bangkok, Thailand, bar manager shaved her head over an unpaid bill of 60,000 Thai Baht (around $1,812.25) for more than 200 drinks, The Bangkok Post and Thai Examiner reported, citing Bang Yi Khan Police.

The woman, whose identity has not been shared publicly, allegedly used a fake ID to enter the bar in Arun Amarin–Pinklao on Aug. 25, and she was confronted by the bar staff when she tried to leave without paying, according to the outlets.

She claimed to police that the manager and bar staff then threatened violence before shaving her head.

Chalida Phalamat of Thailand’s Pen Nueng Foundation, which advocates against child abuse, wrote about the alleged incident in a Facebook post on Aug 27.

“Someone sent a video of the manager of a host bar using clippers to shave a female customer’s head. Afterwards, he took the woman to the police station and filed a report saying she ate and didn’t pay,” Phalamat said.

According to News.com.au, the video shows the young woman in a white dress appearing to consent to a “hair purchase contract.” A man behind the camera says, “I am not taking advantage of you. This is the market rate. I will attach this for you. I am adding extra for this as well. Okay?”

He then shaves off her shoulder-length hair with an electric razor. The woman is seen afterwards holding up her chopped-off hair.

The bar manager denied allegations of violence, per Thai Examiner, claiming that the woman and her mother agreed to sell her hair instead of paying the bill.

The mother later told police she wasn’t aware that the staff would completely shave her daughter’s hair off, the outlet reported.

The woman told police that she also didn’t consent to having the footage shared on social media, per The Bangkok Post and Thai Examiner.

The outlets reported she is similarly accused of skipping the bill at bars on other occasions.
