As a pop culture-obsessed fashion writer, there are a few outfits that stick in my mind. Every fall, I’m brought back to the looks from one of my favorite films, When Harry Met Sally. In the movie, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan’s banter keeps me entertained through my many rewatches, but their autumn fashion is top of mind when it comes to shopping and dressing for the new season.

Last year, I scored a Quince sweater with the same effortless, baggy quality as Crystal’s character, which I’ve worn on repeat. Now, I’m going back for more lookalikes to capture the ’90s-inspired vibe.

When I spotted this sweater on Quince’s site last fall, it immediately reminded me of the loose layer Harry Burns (Crystal’s character) wears in the movie. The fisherman knit offers subtle dimension, and it’s breathable since it’s made from 100 percent cotton. Even better, it looks just as sharp after a year of wear, and I find myself reaching for it constantly because it goes with everything and is incredibly comfy.

Sally Albright (Ryan’s character) appears to wear this gorgeous red sweater twice in the movie: once with a black skirt and flats and a second time under a blazer with dark-wash denim. Both outfits have been pinned to my Pinterest board for years, so I’m recreating them this year with this Quince pick. While it doesn’t have the same cable-knit design as Ryan’s character, the fisherman knit offers the same touch of texture. Plus, one reviewer called it an “easy go-to piece,” because it is “perfectly oversized” and can be worn casually or dressed up.

Though the movie was released in 1989, this ensemble looks like something celebs would wear today, which is why I’m eager to replicate it. Albright’s white turtleneck resembles this new Quince option, which reviewers called “luxuriously soft” with a “sophisticated silhouette.” They even said they loved it so much they ordered another color.
