Fox News Media announced Bartiromo’s exit in a statement on Thursday, Sept. 3

Donald Trump called Maria Bartiromo “a true warrior” after it was confirmed that Fox News Media had cut ties with the longtime anchor.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, Trump, 80, shared a post on Truth Social, in which he praised Bartiromo, 58, for her work with the network through the years.

“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump wrote. “Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior.” 

“Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he concluded.

PEOPLE has reached out to the White House for comment.

The journalist — who hosted Mornings with Maria — first made a name for herself on CNBC as host of Closing Bell and On the Money with Maria Bartiromo, before joining Fox in 2014 as Fox Business Network’s global markets editor. 

During her tenure, she interviewed Trump several times and co-moderated two debates during the 2016 presidential cycle.

Fox News Media announced Bartiromo’s exit from the company in a statement on Thursday, writing, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

Her former show will transition to Mornings with Fox Business as of Friday, Sept. 4, the media company said in the announcement.

Bartiromo last appeared on Fox Business Network on Aug. 7 and Fox News on Aug. 9.

Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street will be renamed FBN’s Wall Street and Cheryl Casone will host during its return with rotating anchors thereafter, according to Fox.

A release on Thursday stated that the network had parted ways with Bartiromo and that the change was “effective today,” though a reason for the exit was not given, PEOPLE previously reported.

It was also confirmed that Fox News Channel’s Sunday Morning Futures would now be hosted by Jason Chaffetz on Sunday, Sept. 6, with a new host set to be announced at a later date. 

Fox Business Network intends to launch a new weekday programming schedule, which will be announced in the coming weeks, as well, per the company.

The latest news comes around three years after Fox “agreed to part ways” with former anchor Tucker Carlson. Six years prior, it cut ties with Bill O’Reilly after sexual harassment allegations in 2017.
