Sydney’s summer dance calendar is getting considerably busier, with Finely Tuned announcing the return of THE WORKS to Carriageworks for a new run of warehouse parties spanning December and January.

After launching in 2025, THE WORKS returns to the cavernous Carriageworks spaces with a program moving through house, techno, trance, UK garage and rave. This season brings Armand Van Helden, KI/KI, Overmono, Pegassi, Sam Alfred, Job Jobse, Rossi. and more to Gadigal Land/Sydney, with each night given its own distinct identity.

New Year’s Eve belongs to Armand Van Helden, whose fingerprints have been across house music for decades through tracks including ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘My My My’, as well as his work with A-Trak in Duck Sauce. He is joined by Ewan McVicar going back-to-back with salute, alongside Grammy-nominated Jayda G, making December 31 the most expansive bill of the series.

Pegassi actually gets THE WORKS underway earlier, making his Australian headline debut with an already sold-out all-night-long show on December 5. The Belgian producer has built his profile through a collision of trance, techno and faster club sounds, with his viral ‘No Type’ remix helping push his name well beyond the European circuit.

Carriageworks then becomes something of a dance-music relay race in January. Rossi. takes over on January 6, bringing his minimal house and deep-tech approach to Sydney alongside Dean Turley b2b Jamback and Stacie Fields. The following night hands the entire room to Sam Alfred and Job Jobse for an open-to-close back-to-back set stretching across house, techno, trance and UKG.

On January 8, Welsh brothers Tom and Ed Russell bring Overmono to the warehouse. Their music has become one of the more distinctive propositions in contemporary electronic music, pulling fragments of ’90s rave, fractured vocals and heavy low-end into tracks including ‘So U Kno’, ‘Good Lies’ and ‘stayinit’. Their appearance follows the release of ‘Pure Devotion’, an album built using tape, re-amped drums and deliberately battered sonic textures.

KI/KI closes the season on January 9. The Amsterdam producer has become closely associated with hard trance, acid and high-tempo techno, with tracks including ‘5 Mins of Acid’ helping introduce her sound to an increasingly large international audience.

THE WORKS established its credentials during its first season with appearances from Underworld, Ben Böhmer, Chris Stussy, CamelPhat, I Hate Models, Michael Bibi and Pretty Girl. Its return keeps the basic idea intact: take artists who normally inhabit different corners of club culture, put them into the industrial spaces of Carriageworks and give each night enough room to develop its own character.

With everything from an Armand Van Helden-led New Year’s Eve to Overmono’s fractured rave electronics and an entire night in the hands of Sam Alfred and Job Jobse, THE WORKS is less a single event than a snapshot of where dance music currently finds itself, spread across a Sydney summer.
