The HGTV star shared a birthday post for her daughter Aubree, saying she’s “excited” to see the woman she becomes

Chelsea DeBoer’s daughter is now officially the same age she was when she first got pregnant at 17.

The Teen Mom alum and HGTV star, 35, shared a series of photos on her Instagram on Monday, Sept. 7 as she celebrated her daughter Aubree’s 17th birthday. In the first photo, Chelsea could be seen smiling in a selfie next to her teenage daughter, who posed between her mom and stepdad Cole DeBoer.

Other photos showed Chelsea and Aubree from throughout the years, smiling together.

“17. They say it goes by fast but wow. To think that she is the same age I was when I first found out I was having her is…wild,” wrote Chelsea in her caption. “I love the person she is and I’m excited to see woman she will become. Happy HAPPY birthday Aubree ❤️.”

Chelsea first appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009. The show chronicled the birth of Aubree, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Adam Lind. She went on to appear on Teen Mom 2 from 2011 to 2019. She married husband Cole in 2016 and the couple have welcomed three three children together — Watson, Layne and Walker. 

This past April, Chelsea shared during an interview with PauseRewind that if she could redo her time on the MTV series, she wouldn’t show so much of her children’s lives on screen.

“They were on TV so much, especially Aubree, in her early life. Looking back, I don’t know if I would choose that again at this point,” said Chelsea, appearing alongside Cole.

“I’m so grateful for it and everything. I’m just saying for our kids now, that’s been the biggest difference between the two [shows],” she continued as she explained what the couple has learned about themselves going from Teen Mom to their HGTV home reno show Down Home Fab. 

Earlier in the conversation, she shared, “We learned as we’ve gotten older and the kids have gotten older, we really want to be selective on how we show the kids, how much we show the kids, and just really try to protect them.”

In 2023, Chelsea spoke with PEOPLE about her home line Aubree Says, named after her oldest. The proud mom said she was in awe of how “confident” Aubree was at the time.

“I love Aubree because she’s always been so confident in who she is,” the Teen Mom 2 alum said. “If Aubree says it’s cool, then it’s cool, so I thought that was the perfect name for the brand itself.”
