Baltimore-based professional organizer Allyson Robinson knows a thing or two about keeping a space tidy.

The 27-year-old content creator has been helping people organize their homes and sift through junk for around three years.

“I discovered Marie Kondo when I was in high school and absolutely loved her ideas and philosophy around decluttering and organizing,” she tells PEOPLE. “Her show would literally bring me to tears! That’s why I love what I do— seeing the impact of something [as] simple as an organized closet is awesome.”

While she doesn’t think people need to get rid of everything for the sake of space, there are a few items she thinks need to go—now.

My use of “expired” is relative, so if it’s good to you, then it’s good for me! #declutter #fyp #organizingtips #cleaningtiktok #messyhouse

Recently, Robinson went viral for sharing a list of things she wants people to “please, pretty please throw away today.”

“Number one, I want you to throw away the old and expired food that might be existing in your fridge, pantry or kitchen cabinets,” she shared. “It happens to the best of us. Things get pushed into the back and forgotten about. You wouldn’t believe some of the expiration dates I have found while helping people declutter and organize their kitchens.”

So, she encouraged people to set aside just a little bit of time to “clear up that valuable real estate” in the fridge and cupboards.

She next urged her 185,000 followers to focus on the kitchen, tossing “anything that has been living under your kitchen sink that you haven’t seen in a long time and you never use.”

“My experience when it comes to cleaning supplies: the more cleaning products somebody has, the dirtier their house ends up being,” she shared. “Don’t ask me why, but the cleanest houses I’ve ever been in have a very limited amount of cleaning products. So narrow it down to the ones that you actually use so that the ones that you’re not using aren’t in the way and overwhelming the space.”

Finally, she emphasized the importance of getting rid of “old socks and undies.”

“These are things that can and should be replaced relatively frequently. So take some time today, keep the ones that are in good condition and throw away some of the old ones that probably shouldn’t be worn anymore,” Robinson shared. “Plus, there’s nothing better than opening a sock drawer and there’s just only nice socks.”

In another video, Robinson also encouraged people to throw out “empty electronics boxes,” “old or excessive pens, pencils and markers,” and old textbooks “that have been collecting dust on your shelf for the past decade.”

Of course, Robinson noted that she uses “‘throw it away’ as a blanket statement.”

“Please donate and recycle where it’s appropriate. But some things are garbage, and they belong in the garbage can,” she said. “If you’re concerned about things ending up in a landfill, then stop buying garbage and bringing it home, okay? And no, I’m not attacking you. I’m just aggressively encouraging you.”
