Rita Wilson is promoting her new single with new ink and a nod to her son Chet Hanks.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the 69-year-old musician and mother of four posed topless on social media to promote her new single “Stranger With Age,” which is featured on the deluxe edition of her album Sound of a Woman.

“STRANGER WITH AGE? Who? Me? I’m lovin’ it! Who else is stranger with age? STRANGER WITH AGE song is out everywhere,” she captioned an Instagram carousel.

Her cover image showed that she appeared to have a new tattoo of a cross that took up the entirety of her back.

Chester “Chet” Marlon Hanks, the 36-year-old son of Wilson and Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, has the same ink on his back, as shown in a May 2026 Instagram video.

Wilson explained the meaning behind her new single during a recent interview with Melissa Rivers that was reposted to the singer’s Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

“Stranger With Age” was penned by Nashville songwriters Liz Rose and Lori McKenna, but as soon as Wilson heard it, she knew it had to be hers.

“The reason I loved it was because it’s this idea that we start doing things that we never have done before because we don’t care anymore,” she told Rivers. “We’re liberated by our own belief systems of what age was or what we should be doing, shouldn’t be doing, saying, not saying, and it tied right into finding your voice or having a voice, which was what the album Sound of a Woman is about.”

Wilson encouraged others to “Be strange!”

The Sleepless in Seattle actress often looks to her family for inspiration, and the couple, who have been married since 1988, spoke to PEOPLE earlier this year about hitting the road together for her summer tour.

“I am proud. I am entertained. I am gasped and often I’m also left at home when she gets up and takes care of business,” Hanks told PEOPLE of Wilson in May while attending the premiere of the Broadway show Celebrity Autobiography in New York City.

Wilson, who did several U.S. cities during her cross-country tour before heading to Europe, added, “He comes in and out when I’m on tour, so we see each other then.”

Throughout their decades-long marriage, she and the Toy Story 5 star have found a routine that works for them.

“She’s on tour; when she’s on tour, I’m not working,” Hanks added.

Wilson also told PEOPLE what rap song she’d love to collaborate with Chet on.

The former rapper, who went by Chet Haze, was initially featured on his mother’s 2018 track “Heart He Handed Down.”

“It’s about my dad and his journey escaping from Bulgaria, escaping from a labor camp and making his way on a ship to New York where he ended up leaving the ship and making his life in America,” she said. “The song was called ‘Heart He Handed Down’ because he had so much strength, so much courage and he was able to envision a life that he wanted for himself.”

The actress added that it would be “amazing” if Chet sang harmonies on the track.
