I love boot season. Truth be told, I anxiously await fall’s crisp temperatures so I can finally include boots in my outfit rotation. 

This year, I’m on the lookout for styles that will work for an upcoming vacation to Boston, long walks around my West Hollywood neighborhood, and standing for hours on end at events. And since I broke my ankle almost a decade ago, I need boots that are equal parts cute and comfortable. That’s why I turned to three podiatrists — Dr. Julie Schottenstein, Dr. Nicole G. Freels, and Dr. Julia Sinclair — for their recommendations on the most stylish yet supportive fall boots.

If you’re searching for ankle boots that look as good as they feel, Dr. Schottenstein owns and recommends this pair, which she calls a “wardrobe workhorse” that’s “fashionable and comfortable.” She specifically notes the suede and leather fabric, which can “accommodate different foot conditions like bunions and hammertoes,” and the block heels that help “distribute pressure and weight more evenly.”

For chillier days, Dr. Freels recommends these ankle boots with “the right support,” “super plush” lining, and removable “cushioned footbeds,” which are especially helpful for “people suffering with high arches.” She also loves the “sleek design, which will complement a wide variety of fall outfits.” They’re designed with side zippers and back lacing details and finished with rubber outsoles.
