“It’s gonna blow your mind how good ‘Grow Ups 3’ is,” the ‘Misty Green’ director teased of the long-awaited third installment in the comedy film series

Chris Rock says fans should raise their expectations for Grown Ups 3.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the New York Film Festival premiere of his new movie Misty Green on Saturday, Sept. 26, the actor and comedian, 61, gave an update on the long-awaited third installment in the Adam Sandler-fronted franchise.

“It’s going so well. We’re having a great time,” Rock said of the upcoming feature, which will see the motley crew of childhood friends played by Rock, Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider return to the screen.

And the good times behind the scenes of the follow-up to 2010’s Grown Ups and 2013’s Grown Ups 2 will extend to viewers once it arrives, Rock teased. “It’s gonna blow your mind how good Grown Ups 3 is,” he said.

Asked who in the cast is best to hang out with on set, Rock gave a diplomatic answer, stating that he’s “having a good time” working with his youngest daughter, 22-year-old Zahra.

“Yeah, I’m having fun with everybody,” added the comedian.

Rock first revealed that Zahra will appear in Grown Ups 3 earlier this month.

He made the revelation while recalling how both of his daughters — Zahra and Lola, 24, whom he shares with ex-wife, Malaak Compton-Rock — grew up on the sets of the Sandler-produced films in a video for Variety.

“It’s weird, my kids kind of grew up on those sets, and now my daughter Zahra’s actually going to be in the new one,” the father of two told the outlet. “Yeah, it’s great times.”

Zahra also has a small role in Misty Green, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.

She attended the NYFF screening of the film alongside her director dad, where they posed for a father-daughter shot on the red carpet together.

Grown Ups 3 will once again see Rock and his on-screen childhood besties, played by Sandler, 60, James, 61, Spade, 62, Schneider, 62, up to their usual antics, alongside several other original cast members.

Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph, Joyce Van Patten, Steve Buscemi and Shaquille O’Neal are all also set to return, along with Sandler’s wife, Jackie Sandler.

The couple’s two daughters, Sunny Sandler and Sadie Sandler, will also make an appearance.

Along with Rock’s daughter Zahra, new faces joining the franchise for the third film include Bailee Madison, Deon Cole and Julie Bowen.

The original Grown Ups follows Lenny (Sandler) and his childhood best friends as they spend the Fourth of July weekend together following the death of their junior high basketball coach. Grown Ups 2 picks back up with the BFFs after Lenny moves his family back to his hometown.

Now that the childhood friends’ kids are also grown up, “the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure,” an official logline for Grown Ups 3 teases.

Grown Ups 3 does not yet have an official release date. Misty Green will be released in theaters on Oct. 9.
