Nikka, Neda and Nina Kanani tapped Dr. Deepak Dugar for their plastic surgery

Nikka, Neda and Nina Kanani spent years unhappy with their appearances, particularly how their noses looked. As Persian women, they had prominent noses, and it simply wasn’t what they wanted for themselves. Over the course of a year, one by one, they got rhinoplasties — all by the same doctor.

Neda, 32, was the first to take the plunge, doing the research to find a doctor who would transform her nose in a natural way. In her search, she found Beverly Hills, Calif.-based plastic surgeon Dr. Deepak Dugar after a tip from a friend.

“None of us really liked our noses much,” Neda tells PEOPLE of her and her sisters. “I was never happy with my nose, but I don’t know if it was really to the point where I thought I’ll actually get a rhinoplasty. I was too afraid of looking fake and looking different.”

From her first consultation with Dr. Dugar, Neda knew he was the right choice. She tells PEOPLE that he assured her that he only wanted to give her a “better version” of her current nose, not completely change her appearance. She booked her surgery that day and had her procedure done in December 2024.

Upon seeing Neda’s results, Nina, 26, scheduled her own rhinoplasty with Dr. Dugar. She says she “always knew” a rhinoplasty was in her future after years of not liking what she saw in the mirror. Once she saw how natural Neda’s nose job looked — especially considering she “didn’t need to [fix] it” — she knew she’d be in good hands with Dr. Dugar.

“I always worried if you got your nose done, it would be the little upturned nose,” she says of other plastic surgery she’d seen across social media, which wasn’t what she wanted. Instead, she got a natural look at the hands of Dr. Dugar in May 2025.

Eldest sister Nikka, 35, says she had the “worst nose” of all of them, but even then, she didn’t plan on a rhinoplasty at any point before her sisters got plastic surgery.

“When Neda first told me she was [getting a rhinoplasty], I was actually pretty judgmental,” Nikka admits. “I gave her a pretty hard time because I didn’t understand why she wanted to do it. If I’m being very honest with myself, a lot of it was because I really wanted to do it and it brought that out of me.”

Years ago, Nikka did go through a few casual consultations but never felt like she was truly serious about it. She then got married and had two kids, and time simply got away from her. Most of all, she was “so scared of looking different” if she did change her nose.

In October 2025, almost a year after Neda got her nose job, Nikka went to Dr. Dugar for her own.

“Seeing [Neda’s] results was the push I needed,” she says of scheduling her consult and going through with the surgery.

Dr. Dugar tells PEOPLE that his work is a delicate balance of giving patients what they’re looking for but also doing his best to give them what he knows will look best.

“I think the biggest thing for me is trying to match the vision,” he says. “I think a lot of patients have their own vision, and I think the key is not to take that away.”

One thing he had at the forefront was the sisters’ dad, whom they all said was nervous about them getting plastic surgery and changing their appearance. Dr. Dugar understood, though, that it was everyone’s fear of an unnatural look that was at play. However, a natural look is his specialty.

Dr. Dugar performs closed rhinoplasties, which means the incisions are inside the nostrils, leaving little to no scarring.

“With closed [rhinoplasty], what I do is, from inside the nose, I make little cuts underneath and inside the nose so that I don’t have to take apart the nose,” he describes. “I’m able to make little dissection pockets and tunnels around the cartilages, and then I can move pieces of cartilage around.”

Dr. Dugar adds, “We make lots of tunnels above the nose, around the nose, inside the nose, under the nose. And then, through those tunnels, we do all of our work, and at the end we stitch it all up, so there’s no cuts and no scars.”

For all of them, Dr. Dugar “debulked” their noses, then gave each woman their own unique finish. He says all three were seeking a final product where their noses “didn’t completely overpower the face anymore.”

All three sisters recall the hesitation from their dad when the talk of rhinoplasties came up. Neda says that growing up, their dad always instilled confidence in them when it came to their appearances, but Nikka adds that they had all seen a lot of bad nose jobs over the years in their community, which is why he was unsure of his daughters going through with it.

“We’re Persian, and in that culture, it’s quite common for people to have rhinoplasties, and I think quite common for people to have really bad rhinoplasties,” Nikka says. “So I think he had just seen a lot that didn’t look good.”

“I remember the night before I did it, I was visiting at their house in Orange County, and I was so terrified to tell him,” Neda says. “I was literally shaking before, and he took it really well. He was like, ‘I don’t think you need it at all. I think you look beautiful, but you obviously want to do this.’ I wouldn’t say he was necessarily that supportive or all for it. But once I had done it, I remember he would look at me, especially from the side because I had a bump on my nose, and he would just look at me. He was honestly blown away. So then he became very, very supportive after that.”

Nina says that their dad actually encouraged her to book her appointment after seeing Neda’s results, knowing it was something she’d always wanted to do.

Both Nina and Nikka admit their gratitude for Neda being the first of the three to get her rhinoplasty, but Nina says she always knew she’d eventually do it. Neda doing the research to find Dr. Dugar and having the surgery first just sped up her process. For Nikka, though, she says there’s “no way on earth” she would have done it if her sisters hadn’t first.

“I was just way too afraid,” she admits, adding that it was a fear of looking different, fear of what people would think and a fear of how much it would cost. But having “two case studies” right in front of her in the form of her sisters made her feel good about going through with it.

And now that they’re one to two years post-op, they all feel better than ever about Dr. Dugar’s work.

“It was the best decision I ever made,” Neda says, with Nina adding that it was “life-changing.”

“I’m so thankful, especially to Neda, for doing it first, because it turned from the biggest regret in my life to one of the things I’m the most happy about,” Nikka says. “Best decision I ever made.”
