Bobby Flay says one perk of his relationship with his girlfriend, Brooke Williamson, is that he can take a break from the kitchen.

While chatting with PEOPLE exclusively at the 34th annual Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame gala in New York City on Sept. 29, the Food Network star, 61, revealed who does more of the cooking at home between him and Williamson, 48.

“We both cook at home all the time. I love when she cooks. Listen, it’s so nice to have somebody that does 50% of the cooking in my house,” Flay said. “I went from 100% to 50% very quickly, but it’s perfect.”

The Bobby Flay: Chapter One author raved that Williamson — the winner of Top Chef season 14 — is “a great restaurateur, great chef, great cook.”

As for his favorite dish of Williamson’s, Flay told PEOPLE his girlfriend is “big on breakfast” and makes him treats like yeasted pancakes and crepes. “It’s very comforting,” he said.

Flay shared that having Williamson in his life “has been amazing.”

“We have so much in common,” he said. “We have a lot of the same goals, and some of the goals are differing, and it’s so nice to be able to bounce things off somebody like Brooke because she really knows what she’s doing in her own right.”

PEOPLE confirmed that Flay and Williamson were in a relationship in March 2025. An inside source revealed at the time that they had been “friends for a while” and that their love had “bloomed” over the last few weeks. 

Their friendship turned romantic after years of collaborating on multiple shows for the Food Network, including Bobby’s Triple Threat and Beat Bobby Flay.

Flay and Williamson opened up about their relationship on the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show earlier this year and revealed that they have no plans to get married.

“I don’t think getting married is what I need to do,” Flay said in the March 31 episode, as his partner agreed.

“Some people get married ‘cause it seems like the natural next step. And I don’t think marriage equals happiness,” Williamson added. “And I don’t think that not being married doesn’t mean you can’t be the happiest you’ve ever been.”

The topic came up after Duran asked about the diamond ring that Flay gifted Williamson, which sparked engagement speculation on social media.

Flay explained that he gave Williamson the ring “to show her that I was committed to this relationship in a way that was bigger than just like, ‘Let’s date.’ ”

“I was actually trying to have a mature moment,” he continued, laughing. “And so I kind of went back and forth as to like, ‘What I should give her. Does a diamond say engagement only, or does it matter? Like, should I get a different stone? Should it be a different ring?’ And I just decided that ‘No, it doesn’t really matter.’ ”

Flay said that when he surprised Williamson with the ring while they were sitting on a park bench in London’s Regent’s Park, he told her, “Here’s the deal. … I just want to make sure. I want to have this conversation with you one more time, please. I’m sorry that we keep talking about this. I just want to make sure that marriage is not something that you want to do again, because it’s not something that I think I can do again.”

He continued, “And she’s like, ‘No, absolutely. I’m totally fine with never getting married again.’ And I said, ‘Okay, great. Well, in that case, I got you a gift.’ ”

Flay was previously married three times (to exes Stephanie March, Kate Connelly and Debra Ponzek), and Williamson finalized her divorce from ex-husband Nick Roberts in 2024.

When Williamson turned 48 in August, Flay shared a sweet birthday tribute on Instagram.

“Happy birthday to the most talented chef in the universe, @chefbrookew,” he wrote. “She’s pretty cute too! Xo.”

Williamson replied, “I love you forever ❤️.”
