Matthew and Kelly Stafford‘s daughters are winning the fashion game.

While the Los Angeles Rams quarterback has his fans’ attention on the field, his four young girls — Sawyer, Chandler, Hunter and Tyler — never fail to turn heads off it with their spirited style, often seen on the sidelines alongside their mom before kickoff.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the start of this season, Kelly opened up about her daughters’ viral game-day outfits and the new role they play in selecting their looks compared to years past.

“They’re helping me with them this year, which is really fun,” the girl mom told PEOPLE exclusively of her daughters’ looks to cheer on their dad, Matthew. “They’re telling me what they want on things and where they want it. So we’re making it a collaboration.”

Kelly, 37, and Matthew, 38, met in college at the University of Georgia and married in April 2015. They are proud parents to twins Sawyer and Chandler, 9, Hunter, 8, and Tyler, 6.

This year marks Matthew’s 18th season in the league. Selected first overall by the Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft, he spent the first 12 years of his career in Detroit. He was traded to the Rams in a January 2021 blockbuster and won a Super Bowl in his first year playing for the team.

Their four daughters have been stylish staples at games, often rocking coordinating outfits that are customized. Kelly doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to the details, which often include their dad’s number, team colors and logos. However, the design process can be exhausting.

“You know what is so funny? I’m like, ‘Listen, if the girls are good, then no one will care about me.’ So I’m like, “That’s doable for me. I can do that’,” she joked. “I called my mom. I was like, ‘I’m so tired. We made one outfit.’ She’s like, ‘I don’t know why you do this to yourself.’ I’m like, “I don’t know’.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Kelly detailed to PEOPLE why she’s treating this season as Matthew’s last in the NFL.

“Every season now I will say I’m treating it like the last,” she shared shortly after the Rams’ season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on Sept. 10. “It’s been 18 years now. It’s been a wild, wild ride.”

“Now that all of my girls now understand football and what their dad does… that is truly special ‘cause a lot of guys don’t get to this point where their kids are this old,” she said of her and Matthew’s daughters.

“So this season, honestly, we are going to make it to as many games as we can again. You look at every game and you say, ‘Well, this could be the last time that he plays in this stadium,’ or, ‘This is the last time he plays against this team.’ That’s how I’m going to go into it,” she said.

“Who knows if it is, ‘cause I never know. Every year it’s surprising to me,” Kelly continued. “I just love watching him play. I really do. It’s one of my favorite things in life… to watch him do what he loves, and I will keep supporting him as long as he wants to do it and as loud as I can from the sideline.”
