Marla Sokoloff has a great fondness for the productions she’s been part of.
Sokoloff, 45, maintained an incredibly busy schedule throughout the 1990s and 2000s, appearing on TV shows like Boy Meets World, Full House and Party of Five while also appearing in films like The Baby-Sitters Club, Dude Where’s My Car? and more. Catching up with PEOPLE as she celebrated the release of her vertTV microdrama, Finding Hope, Sokoloff told PEOPLE which role she’d love to go back to.
“People ask me a lot about Sugar & Spice and if there would ever be a reunion for Sugar & Spice, and I think that would be so fun to get back together with those girls,” she tells PEOPLE.
Sugar & Spice starred Sokoloff as Lisa “The Informer” Janusch, an envious B-squad cheerleader who tells the FBI about the it-girls ‘ involvement in a local bank robbery, after their queen bee gets pregnant during their senior year. The 2001 dark comedy also starred Marley Shelton, Melissa George, Mena Suvari, Rachel Blanchard and James Marsden.

Sokoloff noted there’s another fan favorite that she’d love to revisit. “Another one is Baby-Sitters Club. That’s been done a couple of times in different iterations, but I think bringing the OG Baby-Sitters back together would be so fun.”
In the 1993 film, Sokoloff played the Baby-Sitters’ rival, Marguerite “Cokie” Mason, based on the fictional character created by Ann M. Martin in the book series. The actress shared her excitement to see the 90s “having a moment” in pop culture today.
“I think I personally love it because I think we all feel the nostalgia and the push and pull to have that back,” she shared. “The world has just gotten so techie and there are so many things that I remember from the world of the ‘90s that I miss. So I think a lot of people are feeling that. I think it’s so fun that it’s coming back.”

Sokoloff writes, directs, and acts in Finding Hope, a vertical microdrama that follows Dr. Emily Harper (Sweetin), a successful big-city medical specialist who returns home after her father (Richard Karn), the small town’s beloved doctor, falls ill. When Emily steps in to save his struggling clinic, she unexpectedly reunites with a past romance (John Brotherton). Brotherton’s Jack has a past of his own that comes to a head when Sokoloff’s character, Samantha Stone, bounds in with big news.
Sharing how the production came to be, Sokoloff noted, “A producer who I love and adore and work with all the time named Jeff Shank came to me with this idea of creating a microdrama that wasn’t the classic microdrama, just the same kind of movies that I like to make just in shorter format. So that really drew me to it.”
Finding Hope is now available on vertTV.
