John Boyega has been quietly enjoying married life with a baby on the way. 

While speaking to The Guardian about the tragic loss of his childhood friend and how it shaped him as a person ahead of the release of the documentary, Damilola: The Untold Story, the 43-year-old Star Wars actor revealed that he’s been married for “coming up two years now.”

While he didn’t provide many details, Boyega told the outlet that he and his wife had a small ceremony, joking that he tied the knot the same way Braveheart did. 

“Will you come with me?” he said in a low, bellowing voice while mimicking the action of planting a sword into the ground. 

As for the wedding ring? It turns out, Boyega has two sets of rings: a two-toned band that holds priceless “sentimental” value and another band that he got later on. 

“This is the one we decided to pick up spontaneously because I just wanted the ring on my finger, so we went to Walmart to get this,” he said of the two-toned band. “It was a lovely trip to Walmart. Shout out, Walmart Canoga Park!” 

While he and his wife didn’t have a traditional Nigerian ceremony, Boyega told The Guardian that he would “love” to have a proper celebration sometime in the future. 

“We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry,” he explained. “And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down!”

Beyond sharing the news of his marriage, Boyega added that he has a baby “on the way.”

“We got a baby cooking,” he revealed, adding that they are preparing to welcome a baby boy. “My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing.”

While the Pacific Rim Uprising star didn’t confirm the identity of his bride, he and Lashontae Heckard have been sparking speculation for months.

In addition to exclusively following each other on Instagram, Heckard’s bio reads, “Tae Boyega.”

In her latest post, one photo features what seems to be a cartoon sketch of the pair, while another shows half of her face reflected in Boyega’s sunglasses. 

After admitting that thinking of himself as a parent has been “funny,” Boyega told The Guardian that his main priority is making sure “I’m present, I’m consistent and full of love.”

“I’ve tried to, as much as possible – especially following periods when I’ve worked a lot – to de-centre my career,” he said. “There have been certain moments when I’ve known that this is a time for family. Y’know, there’s stuff to do.”
