Palin “fell heavily” on his left side, which caused three fractured ribs and a minor fracture in his pelvis. Though these injuries aren’t particularly severe, recovery can take some time, “especially when you’re 83,” he added.
The comedian apologized to everyone who worked with him to bring his tour to fruition, and to fans who were coming out to see him.
“It was a comedy fall with no audience there to see it,” Palin joked. “I shall stick to fish slapping dances from now on.”
On Oct. 10, Palin’s website announced the comedian unfortunately had to cancel his United Kingdom tour dates for Michael Palin in the Philippines. Those who bought tickets will be contacted with further details, and notified of future dates, when available.

Palin’s new book follows his “latest adventure” in “one of the most fascinatingly complex and contradictory countries on earth: the Philippines,” a synopsis reads. Palin chronicles his time learning firsthand about the nation’s civil unrest, religious culture, poverty and political dynasties, including the longtime and current ruling power of the Marcos family.
“In the course of Michael’s epic journey he gets to see the Philippines archipelago in all its beauty, variety and many paradoxes. He meets some of the warmest and friendliest people he has ever encountered,” the synopsis reads. “And at the very end, he finds himself as close to the Marcos family as it’s possible to get – in a meeting that he never thought possible.”
