El Paso post-hardcore veterans Sparta are heading back to Australia in April 2027, bringing more than two decades of jagged guitars, raw emotion and explosive live performances to four intimate headline shows.

Led by Jim Ward, a founding member of At the Drive-In, Sparta emerged from the wreckage of that band’s split with a sound entirely their own. Their 2002 debut Wiretap Scars remains a post-hardcore landmark, while follow-ups Porcelainand Threes cemented their reputation as a band with plenty more to say.

Now they’re returning with a set that digs deep into their catalogue, including Cut Your Ribbon, Air, Breaking the Brokenand While Oceana Sleeps, alongside newer tracks Crater and Everything You Say. Their latest album, Cut A Silhouette, finds Ward and company still pushing forward rather than trading on past glories.

And Sparta are a band best experienced live. Their trademark collision of tightly wound tension, towering guitars and sudden bursts of noise has lost none of its bite. With just four Australian dates, including Sydney’s Factory Theatre, fans can expect to get right up close to one of post-hardcore’s most enduring outfits.
