Craig David is heading back to Australia, and this time he’s bringing the album that started it all.
The British R&B and UK garage heavyweight has announced his Born To Do It World Tour will hit Australia in May 2027, performing his landmark debut album Born To Do It in full alongside a stack of career-spanning hits.
Backed by a full live band, David will kick things off at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on 22 May before heading to Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre on 23 May, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
Released in 2000, Born To Do It helped redefine British R&B, blending smooth vocals, sharp pop songwriting and UK garage rhythms into something that sounded distinctly British. The album topped the UK charts, reached number two in Australia and spent more than 70 weeks on the UK chart.
It also delivered some of the biggest tracks of the era. Fill Me In, 7 Days, Walking Away and Rendezvous turned the then-teenage Southampton singer into an international star, while his appearance on Artful Dodger’s Re-Rewind had already made him a central figure in the UK garage explosion.
More than a quarter of a century later, those songs remain essential listening.
The Australian dates follow two special performances at London’s Hammersmith Apollo earlier this year, where David performed Born To Do It from beginning to end with his band for the first time. The response convinced him to take the show around the world.
And there’s plenty more to his career than that debut. With 25 UK Top 40 singles, two UK number one albums, more than five billion global streams and an MBE to his name, David has managed to remain relevant across three decades of changing musical trends.
His ninth studio album, Commitment, adds another chapter to a catalogue that also includes Rise & Fall featuring Sting, Insomnia and DNA. Meanwhile, his hugely successful TS5 shows have introduced his blend of DJing, singing and UK garage to festival crowds around the world.
But this tour puts the spotlight firmly back on the record that made him a household name.
For Australian fans, it’s a rare chance to hear Born To Do It played in its entirety, with a full band and more than 25 years of hits thrown in for good measure.
