Canadian experimental duo Angine de Poitrine haven’t even landed in Australia yet, but demand for their debut tour is already going through the roof. With presale registrations outstripping available tickets, the masked Québécois oddballs have added a second Melbourne show to their Concerts de Musique 2027 world tour.
The duo will now play Melbourne’s Forum on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 March, before heading to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Tuesday 9 March. They’ll also squeeze in festival appearances at Golden Plains on Saturday 6 March and WOMADelaide on Sunday 7 March.
Brothers Klek and Khn de Poitrine aren’t your average rock duo. Armed with drums, a double-neck microtonal guitar and a collection of increasingly bizarre stage outfits, they create a hypnotic mix of tangled rhythms, looping melodies and wonderfully strange experimental rock.
Since releasing their debut album Vol. I in 2024, the pair have attracted a growing international following. A performance on Seattle radio station KEXP racked up more than two million YouTube views in its first week, while follow-up album Vol. II pushed their peculiar sound even further. They’ve even made it onto American television, performing Zugzegk on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Backseat Mafia recently caught the band live in the UK, getting a firsthand look at the wonderfully weird spectacle that’s been turning heads around the world.
With Australian audiences clearly keen to find out what all the fuss is about, adding another Melbourne date looks like a smart move.
MG Live presale begins Tuesday 27 October at 10am AEDT. Go HERE for info.
