I love arriving at dinner in a great pair of jeans, especially when everything else I’m wearing leans dressed up. Denim has never felt like a daytime-only thing to me, and some of my favorite evening outfits started with a pair I’d worn completely differently earlier in the week. The appeal is in the contrast: something familiar set against pieces that feel a bit more extravagant. A fluid silk blouse, an ornate jacket, or a hint of embellishment changes everything, while the denim keeps it relaxed.

For evening, I pay closer attention to proportion, texture, and finishing touches. A wide leg works beautifully with a tailored jacket, and a straight leg leaves room for a top with volume, movement, or beading. Satin heels, jeweled accessories, and a colorful handbag add richness to blue denim, though sometimes the jeans bring the unexpected detail themselves, from patterned cuffs to embroidery. Whether it’s dinner, cocktails with friends, or a night in the city, I like letting denim play a more sophisticated role without losing what makes it so easy to wear.
