One mom never expected who would take over for her doctor when delivering her daughter at the hospital.

Rosa Jeong, 37, recently went viral for sharing a video of the moment her husband Chris caught their baby girl during delivery when Rosa’s doctor was out of the room.

“I was at the end of labor after almost 18 hours. They had checked, and I was only 5.5 cm just 40 minutes earlier, so no one expected for my baby to come so soon,” Rosa explains. “When it was time, I knew she was coming, but it didn’t give the doctor enough time to get in the room. My husband was by my side the entire time and naturally jumped in to catch our baby girl.”

In the now-viral video, Chris can be seen swiftly jumping into action, grabbing their daughter Celine and bringing her to Rosa. As the clip continues, nurses in the background are awestruck by the action.

The South Florida mom, who also shares son Christopher, 12, and daughter Isabella, 7, with her husband, says she was so focused on her baby girl that she didn’t even think much of her husband being the one to deliver her.

“I was just relieved that my baby girl was being born. He’s never done anything like this. His background is in ministry, and he is currently an athletic director at a local Christian school,” says Rosa.

As for Chris, the mom of three says he wasn’t too shocked by the moment either.

“We didn’t even talk about it much. I think we really thought it was just the natural thing to do since the doctor didn’t make it, but looking back we realize how iconic it really is. He still thinks it wasn’t that big of a deal,” she shares. “In his eyes, he did what needed to be done.”

Everyone else in the room — which included Chris and Rosa’s kids, their doula, a friend and Rosa’s mom —was left in awe.

“Everyone was overjoyed, and we all thought it was so amazing that he delivered baby Celine,” Rosa says.

The Internet also had similar reactions, Rosa says.

“Everyone was shocked, others were amazed, but overall I really didn’t expect millions of people from all over the world to react to the video,” she admits. “A lot of people have questioned the medical staff, but from our perspective they were so amazing and kind.”

Rosa says part of the reason she wanted to share her video was to share more of her journey as her pregnancy with Celine came after a loss.

“My hope is to inspire other moms pregnant with their rainbow baby or those hoping to get pregnant to enjoy the journey and trust that everything will turn out more than okay,” she says.

Rosa’s older kids were excited to be a part of their sister’s birth story as well.

“My son Christopher is the sweetest big brother who prayed so much for me to have another baby,” she says. “He was so amazing during my labor and stepped in whenever Dad had to use the restroom.”

Rosa adds that her daughter Isabella is also the “proudest big sister. “

“She wants to be a doctor when she grows up, so seeing her during the labor be curious and involved was so sweet.”
