Actor Erik von Detten’s former employer, metals dealer Rosland Capital, allegedly owes over $60 million months after filing for bankruptcy, as The Princess Diaries star faces a lawsuit from previous clients.

The company is $63,695,060 in debt after filing for bankruptcy in July, according to new court filings obtained by PEOPLE on Monday, Nov. 3.

Von Detten, 44, is currently being sued by San Diego-area elderly couple Sheila Greenberg and Norman Greenberg, who alleged the former actor convinced them to spend more than $2 million on gold coins across three purchases between 2020 and 2021 while working as an agent for Rosland Capital, according to the lawsuit previously obtained by PEOPLE.

The former actor’s most recent credit was the 2024 television movie My Acting Coach Nightmare, and he has largely stepped away from acting. He appeared in a slew of films in the 1990s and 2000s, most notably voicing Sid in Toy Story and appearing in the first Princess Diaries film opposite Anne Hathaway.

In the lawsuit, Sheila, 85, and Norman, 97, claimed that von Detten “explained that he was very knowledgeable in precious metals and precious metal IRA accounts and would make very specific recommendations that meet the Greenberg’s needs, i.e., asset protection.”

“He essentially told Sheila and Norman to just leave the decision making up to him as he would put them in the correct products and guide them through the process of rolling over funds from their traditional IRA accounts,” the complaint alleged.

The complaint further claimed that the couple “placed their faith completely in Von Detten” to oversee the transactions, which were funded through their retirement accounts.

However, the filing alleged that the gold coins were worth significantly less than what the Greenbergs paid for them, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses from their retirement savings. The couple independently investigated the transactions in 2025, which led to their lawsuit.

The couple is seeking at least $900,000 to recover their alleged financial losses, plus additional damages to be determined at trial.

PEOPLE has reached out to a rep for von Detten, who has not publicly responded to the lawsuit or allegations against Rosland Capital.
