New Chicago Bears defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has an adorable reason for wearing a bright undershirt on the field.

Simmons, 29, made an impressive debut for the Bears in their 34-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, Nov. 2, wearing a bright orange undershirt with his Chicago uniform.

According to The Tennessean reporter Tyler Palmateer, Simmons wears the shirt so his 3-year-old daughter, Mulani, can easily find him on the field.

“I always wore it, then decided not to wear it one game, and my family was like, ‘Don’t do that again,’ ” Simmons told Palmateer, explaining, “It’s hard to see me from the suites, so having a daughter and kids, they recognize those type of things. I try to make sure I can do everything I can so they can recognize their dad on the field.”

When Simmons played for the Titans, he wore a red undershirt.

During a press conference after the trade, Simmons spoke about how difficult it was to leave his daughter while the family figures out its new arrangements in Chicago.

“To leave my daughter yesterday, that was probably the hardest part,” he said. “Hugging her before I headed to the airport was one of the hardest parts.”

Simmons said his daughter doesn’t “really understand what’s about to happen” at just age three, and said there’s “been a lot of emotion” going “from almost seeing her every day of the week to, I’ve gotta figure out that schedule now.”
