“This first season is that dream coming to life,” Alexander says of the imprint. “A page-turning thriller in verse, an epic series about a group of undercover angels, a technology-gone-wrong middle grade adventure, a fractured fairy tale that celebrates reading and I’m sharing my own origin story of turning No into Yes. A Yes that made all of this even possible.”

“These books are different genres, different ages, but there is one commonality: They are bold stories that spark imagination and help dream a world,” he adds.

“Starting Kwame Alexander Books with Sourcebooks is another example of saying Yes to a big dream,” he said. “Yes, we set out to create a home for stories that make young (and older) readers feel seen, to elevate their imaginations, but really the goal is discover and nurture brave storytellers who have a vision for entertaining and inspiring readers.”

Alexander also hopes the imprint will build community and serve as a source of change, “one word at a time.”

“Those are lofty goals, I know,” he says. “So how about we start with this: I just want to publish really good writers that create really good books that encourage each of us to be really good people. I say YES to that!”
