Coco Gauff will no doubt have a fan section at the 2026 US Open.

The tennis star’s mom, Candi Gauff, made that clear with a message on Instagram Thursday, Aug. 27 asking her followers to “stop” asking her for tickets to see Coco, 22, at the upcoming Grand Slam tournament.

“Dear Family and friends, I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement,” she began in her post. “I know you are very excited about Coco playing in the US Open. Me too!!! Coco’s guest ticket request have already been accounted for.”

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to hook you up with a ticket. Please make arrangements to purchase a ticket,” she wrote. “Side note, never ask for more than 2 tickets. Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring tickets for the match.”

Candi concluded, “Thank you for your continued support.”

The comment section was mixed with opinions — several Instagram users praised the three-time Grand Slam winner’s mom for issuing that statement, while others thought the note could have been handled in private.

“Sorry you had to tell people what they should have known already 😖,” read one comment.

Some simply found comedy in the request.

“I wish captions could be retweeted 😂😂😂😂😂😂,” wrote Ayan Broomfield, the former tennis player and girlfriend of tennis star Frances Tiafoe.

Coco’s parents, Candi and Corey Gauff, are staples at her tournaments and have supported her tennis career since she was a kid. And while Candi sits in Coco’s player’s box at most tournaments, her dad is far more superstitious about where he spectates.

After Coco won the 2025 French Open, he was notably absent from her box, leading to questions from fans and Today show host Craig Melvin when Corey appeared on the show a few days later. The dad of three explained that he usually wears headphones during Coco’s matches and paces the stands.

“I might be listening to gospel music, hype music, just trying to take my mind mentally off of the moment, ‘cause then I get nervous and I feel like she might feel my nervousness,” Corey said in June 2025.

His method is working, Coco said in an interview on TNT during her French Open run.

“So after Wimbledon I lost first round [in 2023] and was like, ‘Okay dad, we both agreed that you shouldn’t sit in the box. We can go at it, because I just can’t with the reactions,’ ” she said at the time. “He is a kind of superstitious guy so he was like, ‘Okay whatever!’ ”

Coco enters the US Open as a favorite, between her win at the tournament in 2023 and her recent victory at the 2026 Cincinnati Open.
