Parton reveled in feeding the team on the comedy film

Randy Quaid is sharing fond memories of his on-screen wife.

The actor, 75, took to X to share a story about Dolly Parton, with whom he starred in 2002’s Frank McKlusky C.I. The pair played husband and wife, “Madman” and Edith McKlusky the son of a stuntman who becomes an insurance claims investigator.

Quaid wrote, “Dolly Parton made the best chicken and dumplings I ever ate. On lunch break she would knock on my trailer door with melt-in-your-mouth dumplings, biscuits, gravy, green beans.”

“Every day it was a southern feast. I had never seen an actor actually use the cooking facilities in their trailer before but she had it all going on,” he recalled, then added, “I still have Dolly’s Tupperware…”

While speaking with PEOPLE alongside her sister Rachel Parton George about their 2024 cookbook Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals — A Lifetime of Family, Friends, and Food, which featured 80 family recipes, Parton talked about her chicken and dumplings, and joked, “My version is not in the cookbook because it isn’t good lookin’ enough.”

Rachel countered, “Because you won’t tell anybody the recipe!”

“No, I won’t, because it’s not good lookin’. It just tastes good,” she said. “It’s just like Mama said, ‘It’s just got love in it.’ I just put a lot of love in it.”

Parton died at the age of 80 on Aug. 25. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, revealed the news in an Instagram video the same day. In the message, Seaver confirmed the news as he recalled some beautiful memories of his aunt.

“I first went on the road with Dolly as a kid, getting a taste of the road life in the early 1980s. Dolly opened doors not just for me but for her entire family to reach the potential we didn’t even know was possible. Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life and across every continent,” Seaver shared. “By her example, we believed that anything is possible. She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history.

His statement continued: “My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD and on your phone playlist, becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked it or not. Our family and the team she has entrusted with her legacy will work diligently to ensure her spirit will live with us forever. Dolly was a farmer, just like her daddy; he farmed the soil, she farmed songs and happiness. Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.”

Seaver ended his statement, saying, “Rest in peace, Aunt Dolly — Aunt, Granny, Gigi. May God bless Dolly Parton, and may God bless you all. She will always love you.”
