One of America’s favorite sitcoms, 30 Rock, is turning 20 years old!

Oct. 11 marks two decades since 30 Rock first aired, centered on Liz Lemon (played by Tina Fey) and her gang of writers at the fictional late-night show TGS with Tracy Jordan, bringing humor and satire to the behind-the-scenes look at show business.

The series, which originally ran on NBC until Jan. 31, 2013, wrapped up the crew’s story but remains in our hearts forever. We still stan the story that gave us levity every Thursday night and a behind-the-scenes look at how variety shows like Saturday Night Live come together.

As we celebrate the iconic television show, we’re shining a light on the characters who spoke to us. We assigned each cast member a zodiac sign that embodies their persona, using the stars to decode 30 Rock.

I’m pretty sure Liz Lemon, being a Sagittarius, would approve. Read on for more!

Aries: Jonathan

Jonathan is Jack’s assistant and strives to be the best at his job, much like Aries, who always needs to achieve greatness in everything they do. Jonathan is protective of his boss and doesn’t seem certain that people are worthy of Jack’s attention. Aries is assertive about who gets to kiss the ring of power, which translates to Jonathan’s attitude.

Taurus: Frank Rossitano

Frank is the ultimate Taurus of the writer’s room. He loves his snacks and treats — also, he doesn’t invest too much of his time in figuring out situations that are instinctual to him. The sign indulges earthly senses, which is Frank’s vibe. He cares, but is not known for overthinking his actions or crude joke contributions to the TGS show.

Gemini: Kenneth Parcel

Kenneth’s birthday is May 27, 1781, as listed on his gravestone in a scene from the show (a humorous reference to the implication that he is immortal). That birth date makes him a Gemini. With his positive, chatty demeanor, it makes sense that the head page on the set would be a Mercurial sign. In true Gemini-ness, Kenneth knows all the tea and is the keeper of gossip but rarely tells.

Cancer: J.D. Lutz

Unfortunately, everyone piles on Lutz because he has the emotional bandwidth to take it. Cancer’s resilience is similar to how he handles the endless dragging from coworkers, but it doesn’t hold him back. Like the crab, he keeps on moving with the tides of the ocean. In time, Lutz has his glorious moment by ordering from the sub shop Blimpie for the final lunch.

Leo: Tracy Jordan

As the main character of TGS, Tracy has several demands, which can make him come across as a diva. Leos are known for being dramatic, especially in the limelight, and they have a lot of clout. Both Tracy and Leos have a soft spot as friends of the megastar and the lion because they have a genuine heart of gold.

Virgo: Grizz

Grizz is one of Tracy’s sidekicks and offers solid advice whenever his bestie needs it. Virgos are known for their pragmatic, realistic perspective, which makes Grizz align with the earth sign. Beyond that, Grizz is an intellectual, like Virgo’s mind, and is a dreamer, like Virgo’s sentimentality. Also, very loyal and dedicated to Tracy’s entourage, which is how Virgos act.

Libra: Cerie

Cerie is the assistant who doesn’t care about her job because she doesn’t need to work — not to say all Libras are unmotivated, but their relaxed Venusian energy brings out their chillness. Cerie has other important things going on in her life, like her engagement to her shipping magnate fiancé. Being that Libras are relationship-oriented, Cerie fits the bill.

Scorpio: Jack Donaghy

Scorpios don’t like to be second to anyone; the same applies to Jack’s bravado. He is a fighter who won’t stop to achieve his goal of running the network, even if it means navigating multiple situations to secure his rise to the throne. His uncompromising ego rivals the fixed mentality of the scorpion, pushing them to complete what they began.

Sagittarius: Liz Lemon

Liz was born in November, but the series never provides a date (we can assume she’s a Scorpio or Sagittarius). Since she walks to the beat of her own drum and enjoys her freedom, we can assess that she’s a Sagittarius. The archer is known for being funny and zany, traits Liz embodies.

Capricorn: James “Toofer” Spurlock

As a Harvard graduate and one of the show’s smarter writers, Toofer has a sophisticated demeanor. Capricorns are known for their righteousness as well as their brainpower, which Toofer possesses. He is the one who rolls his eyes at shenanigans in pure, sarcastic Capricorn form. Yes, Toofer is rigid and has a highbrow take on some of the show’s humor.

Aquarius: Dot Com

Dot Com is Tracy’s best friend and companion, and he rarely veers from his side. He’s a history buff and extremely smart. Dot Com offers pearls of advice in line with Aquarius, which means he has a sympathetic nature and is direct. When he believes in a cause, he isn’t one to back down, aspiring to the humanitarianism of Aquarius.

Pisces: Jenna Maroney

Believe it or not, Jenna is a Pisces because her birthday is Feb. 24, and when looking at her character, it makes sense. Pisces tend to be lost in the world of themselves because the fish’s vision is clouded by water. Jenna only sees situations in terms of how they can benefit her. Underneath all the glamour is her sensitive side.
