A college student died just shy of her graduation.

Jordan Elisabeth Chymbor, a 21-year-old University of South Carolina student from Cheshire, Conn., died on Saturday, Oct. 17 after experiencing a “sudden medical emergency,” her family shared in a verified GoFundMe.

“Jordan experienced a sudden medical emergency that turned tragic resulting in Jordan’s passing. We are still awaiting answers, and our family is heartbroken by this unexpected and devastating loss,” her family wrote.

The family did share any additional details into her cause of death.

Chymbor graduated from Cheshire High School in 2023 and was a member of the Cheshire Rams softball team, according to her online obituary. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience at the University of South Carolina, and she had a 4.0 GPA.

Her family said she was expected to graduate in December, adding that she “had a strong interest in the medical field and a bright future ahead of her.”

“Her sudden passing has left her entire family and her many friends heartbroken,” the GoFundMe said.

Chymbor brought so much joy and energy to our family and was always willing to help and make those around her smile. She was especially wonderful with her younger cousins, always scooping them up in huge hugs, getting them laughing and smiling, and filling their time together with so much playfulness and love,” the GoFundMe said.

“Jordan was more than just an employee to us,” the business said alongside a photo of her with other staff members. “She was part of our family, and we are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to know her and have her as part of our team.”
